We always used to like eating here when we stayed at French Lick. It was cheaper than the hotel and we have a local Chicago's pizza so we would come here for something different, plus we could just walk across the street. The food has always been good. It's not the best pizza in the world (pre-made thin crust, a little sweet non-chunky sauce, typically lots of cheese and toppings), but it was good, cheap, and easy which is what we were always looking for after swimming. However, the last two times we have eaten here the service has been bad. After last time, I don't think we will return.
Here is what happened to us: We sat down and waited for a server (only 2 other tables eating at the time, it's later in the evening). After about 10 minutes and being passed by several times, I went up to the pick up window to order. I thought maybe we are supposed to order up there first, despite that not being the case before. Apologies were made for missing us (restaurant very open though) and server comes over shortly. We know what we want bread sticks and cheese pizza. After about 10 more minutes, 3 stuffed cheese sticks are brought out (5 of us are eating). We tell server we ordered bread sticks not stuffed cheese sticks and she says she'll fix it and we can keep the cheese sticks. She does end up bringing the bread sticks but then we wait and wait for our pizza. We have 3 kids who are going bonkers from hunger and are tired and server comes up to chat and give us the bill. We are confused and ask where our pizza is...she forgot to have it even made. It took over an hour to get a cheese pizza, with 3 starved kids past their bedtime, it was awful. All of this happened while several people came in for to go orders and another table ate and left. It was especially disappointing since no apologies were made about the mistake. We were given the cheese sticks, which we didn't order to begin with, for free but I would have expected more. The other worker that night did apologize for the situation and mentioned our server was the owner. I didn't know what to say at the time, but I hope regular servers will be hired and the owner will no longer be involved with customers. If our experience continues to other customers there will be no more business to "own". It's a decent pizza... maybe order to go to...
Read moreWe came here with a group of about 15 guys and we were asked to make our drink orders at the same time we made our food orders which was a minor annoyance. Our food came out at wildly different times (most of us were completely done with our food by the time our last pizza came out) and the staff made it seem like every request (asking for another beer) was a huge inconvenience. Our food, when it did come out didn't match the menu in some cases (resulting in having to send back food) and in others didn't match was ordered.
Maybe for a smaller group this place would be better but treating every request like we were asking them to move heaven and earth is no way to run a business and we will not...
Read moreWe had been waiting literally close to an hour for my boyfriend's chicken fettuccine pasta. And when it finally got brought out, it had clearly been microwaved and the chicken was gray. The sauce was burnt to the plate. It tasted nauseating.
I waited 40 minutes for a small pizza, and it tasted cheap. Not worth it. We told the waitress about our unsatisfactory experience and she didn't seem to care, no one tried to make it right. She also brought out the wrong food twice. This is the kind of place that you could picture Gordon Ramsay coming in and yelling at everyone for how...
