Flashback to the 80's!! That's how I would describe our room. The kicker is the fully carpeted jacuzzi tub in the bedroom!! Gross... just think about how much bacteria that carpet is harboring?I think the resort could invest a little to update the rooms to a more modern style. Also, the kitchen was a lot smaller than I had anticipated. On a positive note, the unit was clean and the resort is close to popular things in French Lick. Another negative was the office staff. They were SO RUDE!! We got there after hours, so we had to pick up our key in the lock box to get into our room. That wasn't the issue. The issue was the next morning we went to the office to officially check in and get our "extra" stuff. That was the most unwelcome "welcome" that we have ever had at any other resort. That lady could've cared less about us. She ran through the binder and all the information with a flatness in her voice and she talked so fast that she might as well have been a robot. It was such a weird experience. My husband and I walked out of the office and looked at each other like, what the heck was that? In the end, I would rate this place a 2.5. The negatives are the ones that I mentioned above. The positive ones would be that it is clean and close to downtown French Lick.

Visited this resort through RCI timeshare exchange. Units are huge, but they need to replace all cabinets and remove carpet in the bathroom next to the big whirlpool tub. Utensils are pretty old. Deck furniture is dirty and broken They still use bedspreads. Units on side of a steep hill. We stayed right behind the hotel, so had a nice walk on grounds but no view. We brought disinfectant wipes to clean all but was very neat. Good side: two decks, dry sauna, game and dining tables, newer fridge, washer and dryer, newer pool and exercise room uphill, friendly staff, and access to the pool and fitness facilities at the French Lick Hotel! Hotel trolley buses will take you anywhere in town. Ride restored trolley between hotel and West Baden resort down the road. We played slots at the casino connected to the French Lick Hotel. Lots of attractions within 1 hour drive- Santa Clause IN, Lincoln boyhood, monasteries, wineries, distillery and state parks. It was rainy and cold in April 2022 , but we had plenty of fun! Fun for friends and family alike. 1.5 hours northwest of Louisville, KY.

This is basically a very old Airbnb. I actually enjoyed the vintage look of the place. What really turned me off was the 10 am check-out and Airbnb type of cleaning you have to do when you leave. It is truly so annoying to wake up and have to do chores before you leave. It’s the last thing you’re left with when you’re leaving your vacation. Rather than a “thanks for staying and spending your money with us,” it’s giving “get out ASAP and we don’t care about your experience.” You’re also charged $100 per hour that you’re there past check-out and it says non-negotiable. I would not recommend staying here to anyone. If I ever return, I would try to negotiate check out time and cleaning. Pretty ridiculous

The resort really needs updates to the rooms. Keys are not digital old school metal with 25.00 fee if you lose one as well.

The check-in office is not really inviting or vibrant. The staff are friendly and are welcoming, but it is so dark that the colors of walls etc needs a update.

The unit we had was 97A, 97B so we had both upper and lower units.

Let's start the lower unit 97A it had a large TV in the main area and no TV in the bedroom. The cabinets were from the 70's and need to be refinished or replaced from the kitchen to the bathrooms and even the drawers that hold things.

The bar stools are fabric and are stained and look disgusting they need to replace them with bar stools that match the table in that unit in 97A. Modern chairs. Couches were up to date pain for needs to be done and done properly. It looks like they have just painted over old paint and stuff never really sanded and replaced anything was issues.

Also, the bathroom toilets are so low and small that it's like toddler toliets in church schools not ok for adults of any height or size.

The shower needs work, and remodeling it is gross, and the drain is completely hard water and lime rusted and crusted super nasty if you actually wanted to use that half Jacuzzi tub.

97B the upper unit that dinner table is out dated and the chairs match the downstairs bar stools so at some point the replaced things half way and mixed matched stuff that is pretty bad also both stoves are old and outdated but the fridges were ok on both levels dishes were ok but again lots of mixed matched stuff and each floor had one shot glass per unit that I found funny.

The upstairs door or glass has dew or water damage in-between the panels probably from the Jacuzzi upstairs that can seat 2 or 3 grown people however the hot water runs out a quarter way filling the tub and takes so long to heat back up the water level will drain it self before it can actually be filled properly. Design flaw or need better water heater for the unit to actually use the Jacuzzis either one.

Same thing for up stairs cabinets needs updates lighting seems dark either bright white bulbs or med white bulbs would help make the place look more vibrant they Yellow bulbs with paint color make it seem dark and ugly once the sun sets just depressing.

You can easily take a few of these recommendations even if just updating the stained yellow lamp shades on the lamps and changing the yellow bulbs to fresh lamp top shades and led bright white bulbs would make the place so much better.

Right now, you have a few bright white led bulbs and mix matched yellow bulbs. Not only does it not match, but it shows you could give it potential with such minimal changes.

I'm still on-site bit don't want to be bothered this is my shared opinion and none of these things can be fixed overnight or while I'm here I want to enjoy my time unbothered so no point in bothering the front desk and the binders that are passed out could be updated to smaller information with those binder part showing restaurants and area attractions etc that should be kept in the room on the table in a separate book that stays there showing all the things to do.

Not lugged around forced to check in and drop off when you leave just leave a book version in the rooms with all that second half of the binder and cut the stuff someone has to carry around down.

So that is my experience it's quiet people were friendly, but the Villas them selves I'm sure charge their owners for upgrades, and they need to actually do so. Upgrade the investments, people! More will actually...

Dirty dishes, old food under the beds, and BED BUGS!!

I’ve been staying in these villas since I was little, and this is the first time I’ve ever had a bad experience. But it was SO BAD!

First time we went to cook, we discovered that nearly every dish was dirty with food caked to them. We also found goldfish crackers underneath of one of the twin beds upstairs, and the jacuzzi was also dirty and had to be cleaned before being used.

We went to the recreation center to swim and found the the hot tub was out of order (it had been when we were there the year before too so I almost wonder if it had been closed the entire year), and the pool was so cold, my son couldn’t stay in for more than 5 minutes before his lips turned blue, and we had to call it a night.

We also discovered a few days into our stay that the entire villa was infested with bed bugs!!! My husband and I were COVERED in bites. I’m talking all over our arms, legs, ears, FACES. Luckily, somehow my son was never bitten.

When we reported it, it seemed like the only person who was apologetic or even concerned was the manager, Alexis. No one else apologized or responded in a timely manner. We were told housekeeping was on lunch, and they’d get to us when they got back. Maintenance showed up 30-40 minutes later to investigate, and when we showed them a bug we had caught, they said “yup that’s a live one,” then left. Alexis offered to help us pack, gave us tips for not bringing the bugs home, and brought us spray and foam bug killer. She was very kind and seemed genuinely worried about us.

We were moved to another unit, which was even more filthy than the first. Muddy footprints all over the hard wood, piles of hair in the upstairs bathroom next to the tub, stained towels and wash rags, to name a few things. As we are moving stuff in, two tiles on the jacuzzi tub fell off, as if they’d just been propped up.

I spoke to Alexis again and told her this trip had been a complete nightmare, and we were debating ending the trip early which would have broken my son’s heart. I relayed to her the list of complaints I had about the cleanliness of the units, on top of the bed bugs. She told me she had been in contact with the company we booked the reservation through (we used my family’s timeshare) to get a refund. She assured me this wouldn’t be a problem, it was just a bit of a process. She promised to call me the next day.

She did not call me the next day. In fact, she hasn’t called me since. I have called back multiple times and been told Alexis was either in a meeting or off work, and they would give her my message. No returned calls. No refunds. Nothing.

I love French Lick. We have always loved staying in the villas, but this experience left such a bad taste in my mouth that I doubt we will...

My family made our timeshare reservation 9 months in advance. We exchanged from our share to another share, using all the points we had available. The reviews sure mislead us. We booked a 2 bedroom villa with a loft looking over the living room area. Instead, we received two individual one bedroom units connected by a doorway and two flights of stairs. When we booked, we were sure to include that we had two children. This did not accommodate our family at all. My children were supposed to sleep in a completely separate unit, instead of down the hall from us. Compliants:

  1. our unit had half a dozen dead black flies on the carpet. There were also 2-3 large black flies flying around. Several more appeared during our stay.
  2. the bottom unit's fireplace did not vent properly. Our entire unit filled with smoke bc they didn't service the fireplace.
  3. the bottom unit's queen size bed was so misshapened that we couldn't use it. The middle dipped in. The sides were hard. And it sounded like a broken trampoline when you laid down or rolled over.
  4. there was no wifi. We called twice to the office. We were told "it was privilege not a requirement". We ended up using all our plan's data.
  5. the doors and windows did not seal properly so it was freezing in certain parts of the units.
  6. the toilet wouldn't fush (my husband had to fix)
  7. the thermostat was falling apart, so it hard to tell the actual temperature and setting (upstairs unit) We ended up leaving two days early to stay elsewhere. It was absolutely unbearable. I would never stay at French Lick Spring Villas again. I would never recommend it to anyone. It's not worth it. You'll need a vacation after your vacation just to recover. What a...
