BEWARE! Be VERY careful with this spa as they WILL double charge you! Upon checkout we noticed a charge to the room (including a $31.50 service charge for charging it to the room) for 2 days of services from West Baden Spa. I never went to West Baden Spa as we were staying at French Lick and the French Lick Spa was very close to our room. Their reason was the spas are networked. That's totally fine if they do not want to differentiate their spas, but I had already paid for the services on a DIFFERENT card and specifically instructed the ladies at checkout I do NOT want my services charged to the room. At checkout I used my personal credit card and did NOT put my room number on the merchant receipt so the charges would not go to the room as I was instructed at checkout by the ladies at the spa. Jody with French Lick Resort called the spa supervisor after we brought this to her attention who then advised the charges were for 2 days of services and a service charge for charging the services to the room. The spa supervisor obviously did not take the time to look at the charges or they would have seen not only was the room charged but my personal credit card was also charged. My husband explained that is correct I did have 2 days of services, but as was shown my personal card was also charged for each day upon checkout of the spa. Jody advised the spa supervisor she was refunding the card attached to the room due to the spa double charging us. So just keep your receipts from the spa as well as pay attention to your final checkout receipt, as the spa may want to double dip on you like...
Read moreMy husband and I had a very nice experience at this spa. We got the couples massage which we both enjoyed, and felt very relaxed when we left. That being said, I’ve had a lot of massages, and noticed some things at this spa that were not quite so great. I would love to return to this spa in the future and hope these things can be improved upon as it would really elevate the experience.
Noise level: this is the first spa I’ve been to where the staff does not speak in hushed tones. Everyone spoke quiet loud, and one staff member was even walking through the relaxation room yelling names, yelling tour information. This was quite annoying and not conducive to the tranquil environment I expect in a spa. Products: I received the aromatherapy massage and was expecting essential oils to be used (the description details essential oils) There were no essential oils, just a selection of scented lotions (that were also quite cold and a shock when applied). Any aromatherapy massage I’ve received has used essential oils, and been nicely incorporated into the massage through breathing as...
Read moreI didn't attend the spa, but rather the hotel and restaurant. Google maps may not separate them for rating purposes, but this is NOT spa related.
Hotel: used to be pet friendly, now, pets are welcome for a ridiculous extra fee. We've been coming for 10 years the first weekend of June. Our pets are well trained, certified therapy dogs. They're quiet, don't relieve themselves indoors, yet we've always tipped the staff cleaning our rooms generously, as I once worked in that role, and remember the extra time it takes to clean after pets.
Also, the breakfasts on the lower level used to feature made to order omelette station and Belgium waffle, which neither are offered anymore and the price is still $20/per person! For scrambled egg, dry out biscuits and mediocre coffee.
Best to get your meals across the street...
