This place has changed, and not for the better. I got a mocha and my wife got a matcha. My mocha tasted off (new flavor?) and honestly I prefer what I make at home compared to what I got, which is an honor only held by Starbucks. Gone are the seasonal drinks. The service is still friendly, if not more shy. The music playing is now more generic, gone are the days when I would be surprised by a good song I never heard before. The pasty selection has also suffered. Before the shop would source a variety of savory to sweet pastries sourced locally. They have been replaced with generic sweet muffins. The book corner used to have a more zainy collection; illustrated comics, music CDs, agitprop. And next to that they used to sell locally crafted stickers. That has all been replaced by milquetoast books. Gotta hand it to the owner, they really managed to scrape out the soul of this...

My favorite drink here is their iced matcha latte though! They have multiple non-dairy milk options - I think their oat milk is the best though. The syrups they make themselves are delicious. It's a bit too sweet for me to enjoy in my latte regularly, but they're objectively well made.
The shop itself is super cute. For others who like to work while they sip their drink - there aren't outlets so if you're like me and can't remember to charge your laptop you'll be out of luck. The shop gives off queer artsy vibes and it's amazing. It's one of the few spaces that feel safe and home-y to me. So if you're looking for a cute safe space to vibe, chat with friends, read your book, etc and drink top tier coffee/matcha this is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI brought my girlfriend here yesterday since itās her first time visiting California, and Iād heard good things about this placeāespecially that itās LGBTQ+ friendly, which was important to us. Unfortunately, the experience didnāt live up to the hype.
I ordered two coffees and a doughnut. The coffees took about 5ā7 minutes, but they were honestly terribleāno flavor and way too strong. After waiting 20 minutes for the doughnut, I asked the smaller guy with glasses and a mustache what was taking so long. He made direct eye contact with me, clearly heard me, and then just turned away without saying a word. That kind of customer service was really disappointing, especially when we came in hoping to support a place thatās supposed to be inclusive...
