I have lived in Collin County most of my life. La Hacienda has been in Frisco for decades of that life. So we have eaten there several times over my life time. Probably 14 cows worth of Fajitas, because that is the ONLY thing we get when we go. They ARE THE BEST!!!!
Last night we walked in and were greeted nicely. Not overbearing or under bearing on the greeting. We were told 20 minutes to wait for a table. Figured it was worth the wait. That's all it took was 20 minutes. We were escorted back to our table and the disappointment began. It was a like 3x3 1/2 table against a wall on the end of that wall with my back next to the high traffic pathway from everywhere to the back side of the establishment. My wife was backed up against another table of 4 and had no room at all. As I looked around the area, I saw nice booths and tables with 2 and 3 people at them that had come in after us and just before us. It took 3 minutes and I looked at my wife and said this is going to be a bad experience and that has never happened in my life at La Hacienda. First off I could see my wife cramped up and then I know what we are ordering. Fajitas. How on earth are we going to fit drinks, chips, 2 salsas, and all the Fajitas and fixings with plates and utensils and well,,,, just everything on this table. It can't be done and wasn't able to be done without stacking things and acting like you were putting together a puzzle all dinner long. Then came the first person to hit me as they were walking by. My wife asked if she wanted me to have her move back. I said to where? I got bumped or had my chair hit about 4 times as people crossed back and forth. Now. I will say the staff and everyone that works there are the absolute best!!! Managers the BEST! La Hacienda has shared that success even when they had their chimney catch fire and had to close down for a remodel. Such unbelievable heroes and people that I would say this is a one time bad experience over decades. I compliment when things go good or people are good. Like wise I bring up the bad to help make things better.
Don't let this stop anyone from going. Just remember if they try to put you at a 2 person box. Say please offer us another table.
I spoke with Josh the next day. He is the the Operating Manager. I have known him for years. When people work at La Hacienda, they stay for decades.
He is a really nice person. The size of a Dallas Cowboys linebacker. I shared our experience with him. I just wanted to get rid of the little table. So we arm wrestled and I lost.
Josh said it straight up. Ask for another table. That one isn't going away. In other words dude. Man up and ask for me and I will get you another table. He is right. So if you get the little table. Ask for another one.
La Hacienda was the first establishment in Frisco when there was nothing. You will not find a better place to get Fajitas or Mexican food. You will be amazed at how big it is and how smoothly it runs.
My other suggestion is to save room for there apple pie and ice cream hot plate. Oh my gosh!!! That's always my birthday gift from my wife.
Thanks for taking time Josh to speak with me and for all your years of...
Read moreThe wife and I had a Mid-Afternoon Meal at the Frisco Location. She had never eaten there, Mexican Cuisine not being at the top of her list. You know what they say about First Impressions. At 3:30 PM on Wednesday, a hostess welcomed us at the entrance. The estimated wait time for seating is 5 to 15 minutes. Okay? The parking lot was less than a third full and the Restaurant was less than a third full as you could easily see by looking around. I think they do not have enough wait staff. A Common problem these days but do not make people wait to be set down, right? Then she suddenly turns around, grabs a few menus, and says this way, please. First flag goes up. We are set at a table and promptly a wait staff person takes our drink order, and a dining room attendant sets the customary Chips and Salsa on the table. Drinks arrived quickly. The silverware is in a linen napkin. No saucers or paper napkins are on the table. This is one of my pet peeves especially when at Mexican Cuisine restaurants. The salsa bowls are too small for the chips, causing them to break. A predictable mess did occur, so I asked the Wait Person to bring some paper napkins, and she produces a wet towel from her apron and wipes the table of the mess in front of us, leaving the table wet when she leaves. Second Flag goes up. The Salsa’s (hot and cold) were excellent but there was no offer to refill the tiny bowls when they were both emptied. The Chips were tasty and fresh. My wife ordered Fish Tacos, which were impressive according to her. I ordered the Burrito de Gonzalez. Both dishes came hot and in a timely manner. Both dishes were 5 stars in quality and quantity. In fact, they were both super-size quantities. We both took half of our meals home. The meal, with Iced Tea, and tip cost the two of us $55.00. But it was good enough in quality that we will be back on special occasions. I give this restaurant 4 out of 5 stars. I think they could easily cut the quantity of their servings and offer less expensive options for older or less hardy eaters. Maybe have a small / large option for each dish on the menu. Or even better, offer Senior portions of each dish, which would solve both issues. An average meal is going to cost $23.75 per person as it is. Not including taxes, drinks, appetizers, and dessert. I hear the Apple Pie...
Read moreMom and I have lived in the DFW Area since 2001. We have watched Frisco, The Colony, Plano, Carrollton, and surrounding areas develop and grow rapidly over the past 23 years. We have been patrons of the Frisco location of LaHa Ranch since 2014. Always a good time here! On every visit that I can recall, the food quality, level of service, and ambiance have all been on point. It is also consistent. Best place for Tex-Mex! We have had several servers over the years and they have always been courteous, professional, and attentive without being intrusive. The taste and texture of their corn tortillas makes me feel like it is made from scratch in-house and makes us return for subsequent visits. I understand that there has been a management change in the past six months, but the food, service, and ambiance are exactly as I remember or better. I still give it five stars. I know several filterless judgmental patrons will disagree, but that is why you need to dine here and experience it for yourself - in order to give a truthful, unbiased review.
Filiberto was our server. Courteous, quick to acknowledge us, and was attentive and receptive to our needs. I ordered the cheese enchiladas with rice (no beans) and a side of sour cream sauce. Mom ordered the chicken enchiladas with rice (also no beans) and the sour cream sauce also on the side. The chips were more than enough for us to share and the portions are ideal. The star of the show here is definitely the Spicy Mariano Margarita! Truly the best I have ever had at any restaurant. It is clear that quality liquor and fresh ingredients are used in its preparation. The tajin on the rim gives it an invigorating, vibrant, spicy kick and tantalizes the taste buds.
I have not ordered dessert here since the summer of 2020, but I do fondly recall sharing (and devouring) the apple pie skillet on that day 4 years ago with Mom. So sinfully good and we will order it again (eventually) on one of our...
