Update: 1/4/24: They changed everything about this place. They got rid of hot stone bowls(at a place named BURNING RICE!) and the free salad bar and soup. I can no longer recommend it. Unfortunately the leadership running this company seems incompetent with some of their recent changes. Previous review: If you love dolsot bimbimbap you must come here. If you don't know what that is, it's basically meat, Korean style vegetables, rice, and an egg in a hot stone bowl. I've been a huge fan of it for a few years, but stopped eating beef a few years ago. I was delighted when I saw they offer a version with chicken here, so it's become one of my go to spots to go to when I decide to go out. The cool thing about Burning Rice is they let you individually choose what ingredients you would like in your bowl. Don't like japchae or fishcakes? No problem here! A free all you can eat salad and soup bar is also included with purchase. I highly recommend the seaweed soup! They also have a few Korean drinks like milk tea and standard sodas like coke. For dessert they also sell moon pies. They've also recently started allowing BYOB so you can bring beer or wine if you like to have with your meal.

UPDATE Jan 2024: Food is still good. We haven't been to this location for years eating at the one in Plano. This place can get very busy Sunday lunch at least in year's past. We have eaten at Plano location several times in recent years. I knocked them down one star as one has to make order at kiosk instead of with staff. And they have eliminated all the salad and soup that was previously on menu. See photo. 2017: Great 1st impression. Easy to order look at the sign board just above cashier; 1, 2, 3, 4. Suggest a regular sized bowl (more than enough) choice of rice, beef/pork/chicken/etc, side dishes. Items that are spicy marked on board. There is also a sideboard of soup and salad fixins if you are still hungry. We had plenty for leftovers to make another meal. When driving enter via Cane's Chicken entrance off of Preston Rd when heading north. If you miss you will have to to make a u-turn on Preston Rd to get back. Or from Ohio Dr (going south or north) go west on Prestmont Place and come in behind the restaurant which fronts on Preston Rd.

I love this place! I prefer the hot stone bowls to the regular bowls as it gives the bottom rice layer a little bit of a crisp texture and keeps everything hot. Although I mostly stick to the same order every time (kimchi rice, spicy bulgogi beef, all toppings (except fish cake) and an egg over easy) my kids usually like trying new things and I will often sneak a bite of theirs. Some things that I have tried off my kids plates are: chicken wings, dumplings, spicy shrimp bowl and miso soup. Miso soup is not something I like anywhere but everything else was very good! We visit the Frisco location probably about every 2-3 months and joined the rewards club (which gives you discounts on future visits after spending a certain $ amount). We’ve eaten here many times and never been disappointed!

Super disappointed in the service today. After ordering our food. As soon a we sat down a lady brought a bowl over and sat it down on our table. It was not a bowl we ordered and you could tell the food was cold and had been sitting out. Most likely a bowl that went unclaimed. We thought it was strange she brought that bowl over to us when we ordered two bowls and it was not our order. They usually bring everything together. When my husband brought the bowl back the lady got really upset. She kept insisting it was part of our order and proceeded to raise her voice at us when we wouldn’t claim the bowl. You should never make a scene or shout at a customer. It made us feel uncomfortable plus we had a baby with us. After about 15-20 minutes I received my bowl but my husband did not. She told him the bowl he returned was his but there was no way that was true. Why would my bowl take longer than his when we ordered similar bowls, and his bowl came literally as soon as we sat down. They usually bring your order as a whole not separate. She became even more angry when my husband got up and asked the chefs to make his bowl. I am guessing she told them not to. We waited another 15 minutes for his bowl to arrive and they shorted him on protein even though we paid extra for it, and they forgot the egg. She got mad when he asked for the egg. When we finished our meal my husband went to ask for to go bowls we needed something bigger due to the fact we barely ate. He was talking to someone else when she proceeded to shout at him to go get more of those white to go boxes. While he was talking to the chef in the kitchen she took it upon herself to go get to go boxes and touch our food to prove a point to my husband that his food can fit in the smaller boxes. You should never touch someone’s food and act the way this lady acted. We felt targeted and uncomfortable. We will not be back at this location. Something should definitely be done about this. I wish I got her name. She was a petite, short older...

I’m only writing this for those who felt and KNOWN the difference in not only quality but now menu item availability due to new changes. Last time I dined here was around 3 months ago, and even then, I felt as though the food was not hitting the same. This is coming from the MOST loyal enthusiasts, (back when they had stamp cards and would give you a free meal after 10 OG) and We decided to give it another go. Again, as people who order for a family of 4, we engrained the sauces, rice options, topping choice and meat down. We had that in lock, as we would savor and salivate at any chance we had to get burning rice. It was always a delight and a joy to look forward to. However, upon our visit today, we were prompted to just walk right out. Our own choice. Nothing to do with the hardworking staff, to which I show no blame. No conflicts or issues. But to find your FAVORITE place has not only removed rice options, took away most of their sauces and excluded some of their sides, all for what? Paying the same or more price, but not for quality either as they seem to cut on costs or change vendors for meat or ingredients whatever the case is. It’s disappointing. We see this all the time with businesses that start to move more corporate. I’m not sure what the situation is or who’s in charge of all these changes but it’s a mistake. One that will be costly. They shelled out those order kiosks, which took from the experience, sure. But this? I was not expecting at all. At least not so soon. I would’ve known to cherish all those times and memories longer if I would’ve known this would one day happen. That longing taste for what once was promising spicy Bulgogi on kimchi rice mixed in with my toppings of choice and gochujang sauce. Gone. Thank you Burning Rice for the memories, but you no longer are what...

This was our first visit. We stopped here to go to Dilla's, but decided to be a bit adventurous. The line moved quickly, we received amazing customer service, and were directed to the soup and salads that come complimentary with each meal. I must say, they have the BEST miso soup I've ever had. I wish they offered a soup only option, because whatever the price, we were treated to a wonderfully delicious flavorful soup. The seaweed soup was also flavorful and near perfect, just add some salt and you're in business. Salad bar was rather sad, but that's ok, we didn't anticipate there even being one available. The soup was amazing, so we were hoping for more of the same from our entrees. Sadly, this is where burning rice lost us. I got a "regular" bowl, which was described as hot from the line but would soon cool to room temperature. My girlfriend got the hot stone bowl which was described as a piping hot version of the regular. $1 to make a meal hot? Strange, but ok. My regular meal was disappointing. The kimchi rice was great, and the ginger pork was at least warm, but the fish cakes, mushrooms, and sprouts were absolutely disgusting. I get it, it's a preference. That's why I still gave the place 4 stars. Her hot dish was so overcooked and burnt that it tasted exclusively like the char we found at the bottom of her bowl. LSDR; Miso soup is complimentary and amazing, the entrees are either slimy and gross or burned. I'm not sure I get the food style and concept, but I know burned food when I taste it. The again, it is called Burned Rice, so maybe it's...
