It's not the best & it's not the worse. The decor is unique for sure. The sushi offering isn't. Love Sushi fills that super budget sushi experience for beginners who haven't had good sushi or an expanded sushi taste.
It's hard to judge the quality of the sushi of you go the AYCE route. Because most all of the sushi offering are fried or minced pieces of fish. They do have a Dollar sushi menu, which is piece of nigiri sushi fish sitting on top of a small ball of rice. For a $1 you get 1 piece of thinly sliced fish on bland non-sushi rice. I was sure if the sushi rice was lightly flavored or not at all. What seemed like a bargain $1 sushi, was not a bargain.
Like I said, everything else on the AYCE menu was pretty much fried or minced fish sushi rolls & sometimes overly sauced with hot sauce or something. I want to be fair & say it wasn't to mask the fish quality. But it hard to represent your fish freshness if its thinly sliced, fried or sauced or minced up fish.
The service was lackluster. The hostess who we met either had a RBF the entire time or was annoyed that there were guest or something. But after being greeted, seated & seeing her go about her business in the restuarant, she didnt look happy. The other staff were ok, not the friendliest or welcoming bunch, but did walk around enough and answer our requests. There was one older Asian waitress lady, who was all smiles & even though we weren't her table, she checked in on us often & was pleasant.
Overall, for what it's worth, if you're new to sushi & are searching for a cheap, fried, without the raw fish, semi-sushi experience then this might be it for you. To be honest though, for what you'd spend here, you might want to visit other sushi spots like Kula sushi & sample a more varied & basic sushi offering from the rotating conveyor belt sushi.
I don't think we'll be returning, there was too much fried & minced fish offerings for our desired...
Read moreOne of the worst sushi restaurants I’ve ever been to, you can tell sushi is their only specialty and even that is just ok. Their customer service was horrid and the manager was very dismissive and not understanding. On the check the tip was already included, mind you we had about 7 people with us and the customer service was trash. Why? We got a noodle dish and the noodles were mushy, we got the waitress and told her and she gave us a hard time, telling us she can’t take it back? We were about to tell the manger and she ended up taking the dish. We also ordered one dish off the kids menu, chicken teriyaki and I’m telling you right now it looked like dog food. And I’m not just saying that to be vengeful, the chicken looked boiled not grilled and the sauce was in a separate bowl? It looked like jelly, at this point we didn’t even tell the waitress cause she was already giving us a hard time. I wouldn’t recommend eating anything on that menu besides sushi and a few sides. After we complained about the noodle dish the waitress became very rude and ended up barely serving us, mind you we weren’t rude to her at all, just told her we didn’t like the noodles? After the end of our meal we asked for the manager about our check because we felt like the service wasn’t worth the amount of money they were asking. And it wasn’t like we ordered a few dishes, we ordered a bunch of sushi, sides, and meals. We spent over $100+ at that place, spent our working money and to make us pay for service that wasn’t worth it? We thought the manager would be understanding especially the amount we paid, but she wasn’t and blamed us for it??? You can tell she didn’t care and was acting like that because she already took our money. Very disappointing and felt very disrespected, for the fact that we weren’t giving them a hard time. Horrible experience I will never set foot...
Read morePros: high quality fish, sushi was very good and the sauce was even made well. Ambiance is clean, bright and modern. They utilize a smaller space very well. I also appreciate a clean and well kept restroom because it shows they care about their staff and their customers. Water saving toilet and really awesome mirror for date night. They have a changing table in the women's restroom as well. Despite our children being wild, they seemed undisturbed and helped with them. Brought pens and paper for them to draw. Really great with kids. Additional cans of soda were not charged after first were purchased.
Cons: it was uncomfortably cold inside, seating was not the most comfortable and no booth options, no fountain machine (but addtl cans of drinks were not charged), mochi lacked a lot of flavor and had an odd texture, the tempura batter is not my personal preference but still good.
We came in late at night around 9pm on a Tuesday equipped with hyperactive toddlers. The staff was not only attentive but also friendly and played with our (very) wild children. We ordered gyoza which were fried crispy and fairly tasty, the shrimp tempura appetizer which were also fairly tasty, and we ordered the Butterfly Kiss roll, the Ex-Boyfriend roll, the Spicy Crunch roll and the Spicy Volcano roll. I don't typically enjoy raw salmon but the Butterfly Kiss roll was really good. I did not like the Spicy Volcano, it was too much mayo. I order all rolls...
