Buyers Beware! This was my 3rd time going to Soulful Street Bites. Since the line is always long, I stand in line 15min before they open to be 1st or 2nd to order. Each time that I arrived before opening, they not only opened late but they didn’t even have the decency to allow their customers to come inside and wait so that we didn’t have to wait in the hot sun. The restaurant also smelled like marajuana (2 out of the 3 times I went) and they called a large party that had come after several people, including myself (you cannot have reservations) to order their food before us. I was literally the 2nd person in line. I had to sneak in with the party of 18 just to get in the restaurant and out of the sun. One of the sides I ordered was BBQ Baked Beans with beef however, they mixed pork in with the beef which is a violation for people who have pork allergies (such as myself) and people of certain religions. The fried chicken I ordered was very mediocre and there was an over abundance of pepper-sauce in the cabbage. Therefore, waiting in line for 20min past opening was absolutely NOT worth it considering the food and service I received. This was an absolute fail on their part! My guess is that if they keep their poor service up, negative reviews will continue, their ratings will continue to drop, and this restaurant will go out of business just like the other ones who start out great, then rapidly reduce to mediocrity. Get to work on time so that you don’t have to open late! Be considerate to your paying customers! Just because we’re there today, doesn’t guarantee future business. Get yourselves together! [Update] Thought I’d answer the question you asked me. I didn’t mention the customer who put money in on my food because he had nothing to do with the poor service rendered by your restaurant. He didn’t feel uncomfortable by me, he felt uncomfortable by the fact that he and his whole party could clearly see that I was there first, yet you all called them in front of me. I would’ve felt uncomfortable too. Additionally, I was the absolute 1st customer there, but made it to the line as the 2nd customer 15 min before opening (there was only 1 couple in front of me no one was behind me. So he absolutely did not get there before me, nor did his party. You’re stating God doesn’t condone “my behavior”? Why, for telling people about my experience? You’re going to pray for me for telling you what will happen “if” this type of service continues? You would’ve been better off accepting that you all dropped the ball, than responding with a lack of accountability avoiding my other complaints. But you don’t have to worry about me. I won’t be back and you can save your prayers for yourself and your business. Good Day.

I recently visited this new location with my partner, and we were both excited to try it since it’s conveniently located near us. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations.

When we arrived, we both ordered the Soulful Platter with smoked ribs — mine with catfish and my partner’s with chicken. However, not even 5 minutes after ordering our food and being seated, we were advised that they were out of the smoked ribs. It would have been helpful if this information had been communicated to the staff placing the orders, even if it was just a simple heads up that they were running low on the smoked ribs therefore it gives customers the option of ordering a different meal if preferred. We chose the platter specifically for the smoked ribs, so being notified prior to payment would have made a difference.

Since they were out of smoked ribs we both substituted the ribs for chicken. When we were greeted to place our drink orders, we both asked for Kool-Aid and further inquired if daiquiris were sold there. The server stated that “she didn't know” which is okay, but it would have been nice if she checked with the bar or someone else that worked there to be a bit more helpful and also knowledgeable in the case another customer asks. When my partner decided to just go to the bar to see for himself he seen on the drink menu that they did in fact sell daiquiris.

When our food arrived, we received our sides, along with our fried ribs, and fish we order, along with other items that were not ours, which were quickly removed and taken back to the kitchen. However, our substituted chicken was still missing which we assumed they were still working on which was fine. However once it did arrive, it was only chicken and fish — though we had not requested fish as the substitution. The plates were sent back for correction, and we also had to ask for the cornbread that were forgotten with our side dishes.

Our server did not check on us for quite a while after the incorrect order was brought out. Another server eventually came by, and we explained that we were still waiting for our chicken. By the time our meals were finally corrected, the overall dining experience had become disappointing, because our food was then being brung out separately, half of our order being incorrect twice, being notified after ordering that they are actually out of smoked ribs. After all of that we just felt as if we had to do more explaining than the ability of actually being able to enjoy our meals.

There also seemed to be confusion among staff about which orders belonged to which, and the small table size made it difficult to dine-in comfortably. Also, while the cheesy spaghetti was enjoyable, it tasted and looked more like traditional spaghetti with ground beef. The fish was a bit salty but otherwise decent.

This establishment has potential and I hope it continues to thrive but communication can make the biggest difference in your...

Me and my husband went yesterday
we waited an hour which I honestly expected
if the line had been crazy long
which it was not
it was maybe 15 people in front of us so I got excited that the wait wouldn’t be long after all..but it was and I feel it was an unnecessary wait once we got closer to the front to “witness” the orders being taken
unfortunately the young lady was not very fast or good at the job she was given. She slowly took orders while looking around and seeing other patrons complaining about things being wrong on their order so she was pausing to take orders listening to the complaints of people already seated
then completely leaving the register to go “see what they were saying cause she thinks they were talking about her” her words đŸ€ŠđŸŸâ€â™€ïž this happened a few times while we just stood there
.5 guests in front of us and it still took 20 MORE minutes
so I think that should be the first thing addressed since that’s the first impression I got so I’m sure I’m not the only one
now the food
hubby’s food was delicious tasted like thanksgiving day he had the brisket soul bowl with yams,Mac and cheese and chicken tetrazzini his was definitely something I’d recommend
as far as mine I had the three wing plate since they were out of what I had originally wanted đŸ˜© oxtails, greens, and cheesy rice
all gone
so I settled for the wings, dressing and cabbage I asked for cornbread and got a slice of whitebread đŸ„č wings were great big and fried perfectly and seasoned
but the sides..I was not a fan the cabbage tasted like it was boiled in water and it was no flavor at all and the dressing tasted like the bag dressing đŸ˜© there was very little flavor it was mushy and had egg pieces which I was definitely not a fan of the gummy egg white texture definitely regretted not getting the Mac and cheese because hubbys was delicious. I didn’t bother asking for something different because we waited so long already I didn’t want to wait again. That being said I’d definitely be back I see the potential love the Addison location where I usually or to go
so for awhile I will do the same at this location order to go while they...
