Went for the first time with our family of 5. We had never been there before so we were not aware of the process for ordering and moving through the line.
We actually stood in front of the sides for almost 2 minutes before we were told it was self serve. My daughter grabbed a jello for herself and I was surprised when it wasn't on the ticket. That's a nice surprise except we had 3 kids meals in all so if it was included in the meals, it would have been nice to know so our 2 year olds weren't fighting over big sister's dessert.
Food was pretty good as my kids ate well. My biggest complaint comes from an exchange I had with the MOD when we asked to speak to one.
We calmly explained our experience had been marred by the fact that no one had bothered to inquire if we had been there before and were we familiar with how the process worked. Only thing said to us before holding up the line waiting for sides was "you will need a tray and silverware" as they were pushed towards us. (We were smart enough to have figured that one out on our own and were already in possession of said items.)
The MOD listened to our story and then said "my bad". Not I'm sorry, not I didn't realize, just simply "my bad" and walked away.
It's a shame because the food was good, but bad service and bad reception will keep me from ever returning to...
Read moreI had somewhat high hopes for this place as I've had some good experiences at their other locations throughout the DFW metroplex. But unfortunately I was disappointed overall.
First the good: they still have their hot fresh bread baked fresh and served at your table. There's something very welcoming about the baking and giving you as much bread as you want. The sides were also good and the chicken was excellente today.
Unfortunately the same can't be said about the two main meats I got, the brisket and the sausage. They were both rather tasteless and uninspired today. Add on top of that the butcher really butchered his attempt at getting me decent cuts and you get what you see in the picture I posted. The guy really just didn't know what he was doing, which is a damn shame given that's one of the most important positions on the staff.
And then there was the check. Since when did a two meat plate cost $20!?! Plus tax and *tip and you're look at $25 for average bbq. Heck no. For that money, I'll go further up north to Hutchins or Rudy's. A bit sad since the value and flavor proposition for Spring Creek has apparently gone out the window.
*No tip was given since the cut of meat received...
Read moreMy family ordered three BBQ meals to go and to sum up the overall flavor of everything, it would best be described as simply "ok". Between all three plates, we ordered some pulled pork, brisket, st louis ribs and sausage. The sausage tasted like it was just simply steamed, the pulled pork was very bland and the brisket was very chewy and dry. As far as the sides go, we ordered Mac & cheese, corn on the cob, italian green beans and a large side salad. The mac & cheese was ok, but pretty bland over all. Italian green beans were decent, but so are beans you get out of a can, and the corn on the cob was pretty much void of any flavor. Surprisingly the side salad was very large and tasty with the jalapeno ranch dressing. Kinda sad that one of the best items in our order from a BBQ restaurant was a salad. I gotta give some props to the employees working the to-go section, because they got everything in our order correct, but the cooks really need to revisit their BBQ recipes or just throw on some extra salt/ seasonging. There are much better BBQ options in Frisco, and if you simply drive down Preston Rd to Tender smokehouse you'll be much happier...
