During a conference visit to front royal, 4 friends and I decided to get some work done at this cafe. After me friends and I sat down for a while and began to work, the owner comes up to my friend and I (who happen to be the only people of color in the building) and says we need to either buy something or we needed to give up our seats and leave. Now, I can understand this as seating is limited in this place... however she decided to give us a lecture about how we needed to “show respect to the servers.” Then waving the menu in our face asked us what we were going to order to stay there. This is when I noticed her confrontaion with us made my other friend very self conscious and uncomfortable. It was an unnecessary way to simply ask for us to support her business. I was raised to ignore this type of behavior from people so I said to my friend let’s alert our group we are leaving. After hearing what happened the rest of our group, who all ordered multiple items decided to head out. She may not have been aware of the racial implications her words / actions were bringing about, but it was very uncomfortable for my group... so much so one of my colleges had to confront her about her attitude. I would stay clear of this place, but if you must.. go in for yourself and notice how there is an uneasy vibe in this place. Something is just off.

I forgive her and her actions as I have no control over other people and you never know how people are really feeling inside. I will never be back again, and will share our experience with the rest of the men (~400 adults) involved with our conference and suggest to another place to...

Daily Grind in Front Royal has a great selection drink and food items including many gluten free items which is really what brings us in. I do not like to put syrup in my coffee; I prefer to use natural sweeteners such as a small bit of real honey. Yesterday I ordered a decaf cold brew with real honey and whole milk. The employee put in honey syrup which is far sweeter and has a different taste. I asked if I could get the drink as I ordered it or just receive my money back and the girl at the cash register told me no, that they had made it as I ordered it so I couldn’t have the drink remade or receive my money back. She told me that honey syrup is the same thing as honey which it is not. It differs in both taste and consistency. I told her this and she begrudgingly remade my coffee. I witnessed another person ask that they remove the ice from her drink ad it would melt in the heat. She was very apologetic and polite and the employees gave her a similar attitude. It seems clear that the girls have no stake in the business or they would not be treating customers with disdain. I might be old fashioned but I would never imply that a customer is wrong or being annoying unless it was there was an exceptional reason for it. Other than my awkward interaction yesterday, my experience with the Daily Grind has been slightly...

The good: close to the Front Royal entrance of SNP, if you are looking for a place to grab some eats and get back into the park quickly. We ordered two breakfast items to go (the avocado breakfast burrito, and an egg and cheese croissant) and they were ready within 10 mins. Appreciated the prompt service. Clean bathroom. Pleasant singer-songwriter tunes. There are a couple of tables on the sidewalk out front if you prefer to eat outside.

Cons: The avocado breakfast burrito was awful. The fresh spinach was the only thing it had going for it. The avocado was sour, like it was pre-cut and had had lemon squeezed over it maybe, the salsa was very ketchupy (if you know, you know), and the eggs didn't taste like they'd been seasoned at all. The menu said this included cheese but I couldn't taste any, so if it did, the cheese was pretty bland. I agree with other reviewer who said the breakfast burrito is more of a wrap than a burrito. The croissant sandwich was another miss, the croissant tasted like the kind you'd get a grocery store. It just didn't taste especially fresh. The bistro sauce has good kick but could not make up for the rest of the sandwich. We would not order...

[📌Save this guide for planning and share with your adventure friends!] A gateway town to Shenandoah National Park, Front Royal, VA is one of the best (and closest) outdoorsy getaways for DMV residents! Here are my top recommendations for your visit: ➡️Hike in Shenandoah National Park’s Northern district. 📍Compton Peak (2.3 miles/Moderate) 📍North Marshall Mountain (1.2 miles/Easy) 📍Snead Farm/Dickey Ridge Loop (3.5 miles/Moderate) ➡️Enjoy the views from Skyline Drive’s many overlooks, including: 📍Gooney Manor (mile post 6.8) 📍Range View (mile post 17) 📍Signal Knob (mile post 5.5) ➡️Tour Skyline Caverns. This younger cavern is one of the only places in the world you can see anthodite formations! ➡️ Try a gentler hike in Shenandoah River State Park. Don’t miss Everett Cullers Overlook. ➡️Kayak, paddle, or otherwise float down the Shenandoah River. Front Royal Outfitters is my favorite for gear rentals. ➡️Hike in George Washington Nat’l Forest. 📍Try Buzzard Rock (4 miles/Moderate) ➡️Eat and drink 🍔 @spelunkersburgers for a cavern burger, fries, and shake 🍻 @vibrissa_beer for craft beer & food 🍺 Honey & Hops for mead 🍕The Melting Pot for pizza ☕️ @msdailygrind for coffee 🍝 Element for American classics 👉🏼Have you been to Front Royal, VA yet!? What else would you add to this list? ⚠️ Help keep Virginia beautiful by staying on established trails, packing out all waste (even food scraps 🐻), respecting wildlife, and leaving what you find!

We paid our first visit here, today! Talk about being pleasantly surprised. Great coffee shop atmosphere and the staff is friendly, outgoing and maintained upbeat service, despite being extremely busy. The menu options are wonderful and offer vegetarian and gluten free options, for breakfast or lunch. Coffee bar is amazing and their options for sugar free and dairy free are more extensive, than their would be chain competitors. High point of our visit? What might be the best sweet potato fries, that we've ever had! Menu pricing is right on point compared with other coffee shops in the area. Thanh you for an overall great experience! This is our new go for coffee and yummy food!

The pastry was good but would not go again for the paninis or wraps. The shop was overrun and took over 30 minutes (not including the line) to prepare a simple 2 item order. The bean wrap was ok. The "panini" was a bunch of vegetables thrown into 2 slices of pita bread, nothing panini about it. If the panini was confused with a different item, we did not feel like arguing and wait another 30 minutes in a 80F shop. (Side note: no mask worn by any staff.)
