UPDATE: added pic of crab-cake sandwich and mac&cheese. Both were delicious. Hardly any filler in crab-cake, if any, I couldn’t tell. One of the best crab-cakes I’ve eaten. Mac&cheese could have been browned on top a little more, but the seasoning was spot on. I must also say that the prices are really reasonable. My price was in that range because I ordered two dishes. First time at this location. Traveled 40 mins. Ordered the fried shrimp and the crab-cake sandwich. At the time of this post, I only tasted a little piece of the crab-cake. The crab-cake sandwich meal was inclusive of mac&cheese. I can say that there is not much filler in the crab-cake. There is a lot of crab meat in it!! The mac & cheese had good flavor. It was southern branded and again I only tasted it. I have not eaten it yet, but I will update this post, w/pics, when I dive into the mac & cheese and the crab-cake sandwich. However, the shrimp were phenomenal!! Great size and seasoned really well. Customer service at the counter was a little bleak. When I asked for cutlery, I was pointed to a corner to grab my own cutlery. Instead of it being placed in the bag with a Togo order. The food was prepared when ordered, so everything was freshly made. The establishment is small and quaint nothing fancy. I am huge on hygiene and so I stood and watched as food was being prepared. The young ladies in the kitchen diligently changed their food preparation gloves every time they worked with a different food item. I thought that was really great! The kitchen appeared to be clean enough and well organized. If you’re looking for great Southern flavored seafood and you don’t mind riding to Front Royal, I think this might be the spot for you. Would I visit again? Most definitely!!

Cannot say enough about this place. Every single time I've stopped by, I encounter people that have traveled miles to try it cause they've heard amazing things! They have recently moved to a larger space in the main street of old town Front Royal and added even more amazing things to their menu. Their most popular item is the crab cake, which has absolutely no fillers at all, and is made with Miami crab, which is just slightly sweeter and more flavorful in my opinion. My personal favorite is the catfish po boy, and that's coming from someone that never liked catfish. Ever! The crust is absolutely amazing and the combination of toppings and flavors leave you wanting more, but out of gluttony, since the portion of quite large and the price very affordable. Their hush puppies are also some of the best I've had anywhere on the east coast. They're slightly sweet and salty, with pieces of corn inside. I highly recommend you give them a try once in your life. It's definitely a must do foodie stop and perfect before heading to beautiful skyline drive or camping.

For Father's day my husband wanted to try this place and it did not disappoint. It is a little place right next to the movie theater in downtown Front Royal. You might miss it when you drive by because there is no big sign outside. It was easy to place our to go order. We had the crab cake super platter and I originally wanted the tilapia sandwich but they were out of tilapia so I got the 9 piece fried shrimp. For sides we had potato salad, Mac & cheese, hush puppies and collard greens. The food came out fairly quickly even though they started to get busier. The food tasted very good. We will definitely return. There is inside seating available, I'd 7 tables or so. We ate our food in the town square. I would recommend this place to all the seafood lovers out there. Nice staff as well.

I had been wanting to try the place for more than a year and decided to stop in today. I’ll definitely go back.I tried the crab cake super platter. I doubt there is a better crab cake anywhere around, if there is I have not found it. These are the real deal, no filler. The platter has a crab cake, shrimp, 2 hush puppies and 2 sides (green beans/southern Mac and cheese). Everything was delicious and the folks running the place were welcoming and friendly. It is right next to the theater, easy to miss it. Anyone who likes crab cakes should give it a try.

Update 6/22/2025 I tried to do a return visit today. I came in asked if I should seat myself which the guy up front said yes. I sat at the table waiting for 10-15 minutes and was never even acknowledged. People were taking out the trash walking right by me and wouldn’t even acknowledge I was there. No drink, nothing. There was literally one other guest in the restaurant. It was very rude. I don’t get it, they were so nice on the first visit and had decent service. They missed out on a very good tip as well and a loyal repeat customer. I had given 5 stars across the board on my first trip there, but this forced me to change my rating.Very...

Was looking for some good seafood other than Red Lobster and came across this quaint little place online that is on East Main Street in Front Royal Va. so after reading the reviews the wife and I drove from Winchester to give it a try and was most definitely not disappointed, wife got the crab cake meal with 2 sides and hush puppies and I ordered the Super seafood sampler which consisted of a large fried catfish fillet, 4 fried oysters, five large fried shrimp, a medium sized crab cake with hush puppies and a side of collard greens and let me tell you that everything was on point and very delicious and worth the drive which we will most definitely be making again and again. The prices are a little high but when you get seafood and fish with quality with fair portions and cooked just right then you know you made a good choice with Talk of the Mountain. Only regret that I have is that I forgot to take pictures of my meal to post with this review but only because I couldn't hold off before digging in 😋 If your reading this review what are you waiting for, get your butts to Talk Of The Mountain Crab Cakes and...
