Mom's Country Kitchen — Restaurant in Front Royal

Today was the second time we ate at this restaurant. The first time was a much better experience then the second. Today’s food we ordered was not very good for neither my hubby or mine. The pancakes were sticky and hard to swallow. The bacon was extremely greasy and not how I requested it to be cooked. Everything tasted like grease and when the waitress asked how everything was - we told her but, all she said was, the owner is sitting by the cash register if we wanted to talk to her. By the time we were ready to talk to her- she disappeared and when asked if they do any military discounts- they weren’t sure and kept asking each other among the waitresses only to decide they ONLY give discounts to Police Department . Our waitress did not engage on food issues resolution or even gave us a discount. They were very busy and although we had to wait on a table, the food was fast serving although not something to brag about. It wasn’t anything I could not cook at home. Not sure why this place has gone downhill so much, but it has. It took 10 minutes before we were waited on. Ordered a Reuben and it was a steak and cheese sandwich. The meat was steak, not corn beef and there wasn’t even any sauce on it. Just 4 slices of provolone with steak meat in the middle. My friend asked for a patty melt and got a tuna melt. When I brought this up to the server about the Reuben not being a Reuben, he informed me it was a Reuben. Dude, I am 47 years old, did server work on and offfor 20 years, this restaurant needs to fail. Customers aren’t right at all. Stopped in for light meal after 6 hours on the road. Good size portions , fast and friendly service, and most all good food. It was so good we skipped the free breakfast at the hotel and went back to Mom's for a really tasty bacon omelet, hash browns, and coffee. This will be my go-to place for a good meal in Front Royal from now on.
