Not exactly as expected. This seemed a bit of a imposter to me. The features I expect of a small town diner are: Big portions Breakfast done well Good coffee Basic simple old fashioned condiments like butter, syrup, and cream for coffee.
I ordered the Hometown breakfast with scrapple. The portion was disappointingly small, the scrapple was only about 1/4" thick, the home fries were greasy, rather than crispy. The french toast was made with some very light fluffy bread that had no body to it, and little flavor. The coffee was weak. Read moreI love a good breakfast joint. This is not one. Cozy looking and promising when we sat down. Food took forever to come out. Orange juice was like the crap you get out of a spout at a hotel. Not that I expect fresh squeezed but this was worse than the frozen crap. Pancakes literally had to be cut with a steak knife. A serrated friggin steak knife. Ham was mediocre. Eggs were fresh enough and cooked a little shy of the desired over medium. Toast was like prison toast. Like toilet paper thin. Hash was crispy on one side and pretty much hollow and devoid of substance beneath the surface. Servers were cranky. Won’t...
