The brisket was super dry, barely tolerable. The coleslaw was drenched in sauce and flavorless. This was our second bad experience at Mikeās. An employee asked how our food was and when we told her the brisket was bone dry, she refunded us the amount and tip. Kudos to them for doing the right thing.
12-4-2023: I noticed a response to my review and to several other reviews which mentioned how dry the food is, with the exception of the drenched, flavorless coleslaw. The employee responding to my review and several other reviews always has the same response about how the customer ate the most of the meal, as if the customer is on the āmakeā trying to take back their money from Mikes. Truth be told, I didnāt want a refund at first, because we did in fact eat most of the meal, but we were also hungry after working all day and we do not like wasting food. It was very hard for us to even say how dry the brisket was and drenched the coleslaw was, but the lady walked right up to our table and asked us right when we were near finishing our meal. What was I supposed to do? Lie? Then she went on and on about refunding us our money. I told her āNo,ā but she insisted. The whole experience did not feel good. Of course I want Mikeās Famous Chicken to make it. They are a small business in Fruita and we are rooting for them, but we also want them to improve their brisket and coleslaw. We donāt think they should insist customers who had a bad experience receive a refund if they are going to then come back a make them feel guilty...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThey had tremendous food, some of the best-tasting chicken I have had in a while. There is only one downfall, the pricing. I believe that the cheapest thing I saw on the menu was around 12 dollars (not counting the $4 drink or sauce pries) and everything only went up. In total, I paid around 22 dollars for a chicken sandwich, drink, sauces, and a side. Now I received a good portion of food that tasted like $20 but I am a broke high schooler and don't want to pitch in 20 bucks for a meal that I can get for 5 at a fast-food joint. It was very tasty but for what seems to be more like a BBQ Shack their prices were that of a nice restaurant you would find in town. I recommend smaller portions for cheaper or just pull down the prices, I mean 4 dollars for a 20-24oz drink? Be real, drinks can be priced at a dollar and you are still making a good profit. All in all, it was really good food, all homemade it seemed, but the only issue is the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCan I just say, not only are Jaime and Norma the nicest ladies you'll meet, but the crust on this chicken is AMAZING. raised by my mom who fed us fried chicken every Sunday, the corn bread meal is everything. So moist...mmmm. we had the 8 piece meal, chicken chips, with Jo Jos, green beans and slaw for our sides. Chicken chips. Juiciest chicken breast you've ever eaten (honey mustard is the way to go) I'm not a fan of Jo Jos but they were perfect. The green beans... Let me tell you. How? There is no bacon, HOW are they so good? SO. GOOD. From now on all my sides will be green beans. I like a vinegar slaw and there's is creamy, but it cut the richness of everything else quite nicely. To finish up, we got home and never even made it to the dining table, we stood at the kitchen counter stuffing our faces until we realized we never even opened our beers to wash it down....
