I have never been here but i was in MOAB this last weekend. We drove the kokopellie trail from fruita colorado to Moab utah in our polaris rzrs. We left the trailhead at 10am wensday and hit snow at about mid night, i lost track of time past 1030 pm. By 2 in the morning we were stuck balls deep in packed snow with seemingly less chance of survival as each inch we progressed was plowing us further into the snowy depths of hell. Some how we managed to get the group of 11 machines that were here and there scattered back together around 3 in the morning. and as we traversed our way back to the saftey of the correct direction we had but only one thing left to do, find a gas station. As we encroached on to the highway with this ragtag group of exhausted drivers began to coast off to the side of the road in despair as the fuel had been consumed to the last drop. Some of us lucky souls had just enough fuel to make it to town just to start the tedious drive back to those who we had lost earlier.

First time at Strayhorn Grill, we had a great dinner! We stopped in on a Friday night around 5:30 and got a table right away; there was a bit of a wait when we left. Large portions, fast service, and very friendly staff. We started the meal with "tips and toast," a hearty appetizer. Our oldest son had the bunkhouse chicken (photo) and devoured it. My husband and I had the salmon, large portions, and it was delicious. Our other son had the filet and said it was cooked to perfection and gone so fast I could not take a photo. The side salads were very fresh! Along with a soup or salad, they also served rolls, a choice of sides, and veggies; you won't leave hungry! Love supporting a local business vs a franchise chain!

It's probably the most comfortable restaurant I've been to in a long, long time, It's open and clean with tons of seating but never seems too loud. A couple of tvs at the bar - nothing fancy but all very inviting. The food is always spot on and full of flavor. The breading on the cheese curds has fresh herbs in them (assumed fresh because it's definitely not your typical Italian herb bread crumbs) Chili Relleno was killer and had a great crunch. The crust wasn't an egg batter crust but not a fried flour tortilla either. Personally, I liked the thicker refried beans so they don't run into everything else! The flavors, textures, atmosphere, and service makes this my new fave!

This was a nice open barn style restaurant with Cowboy and Indian style artwork around the walls. Several old rifles to look at, some animal hides, and other unique western style decor. Tables are nice wood style (outdoorsy), but comfortable. They were put a bit close together, though. I heard more of the table next to me conversations than I cared, too. This place could get very loud if it had been a busy night. We visited on a Tuesday about 1/2 of the restaurant was full and getting busier as we were leaving. The restaurant offers specials each night like surf and turf on Tuesdays, Prime rib on Fridays, etc. $$ is the average pricing.

It was interesting to watch our waitress, as well as the other wait staff, perform every part of our service from water, making cocktails, take orders, serve the meals, get extras, and all timely and with a great attitude. We asked for recommendations from Maci, our waitress, and she was very helpful throughout our meal. The portions of the Prime rib were humungous, well worth the price. My husband raved about the tri-colored corn with red pepper, jalapenos, and the added zing of flavorful ingredients. Mashed potatoes went well with the brown gravy, of course,

I decided on the mushroom burger. Unfortunately, it lacked any flavor at all. It was made well, but the ingredients on the sandwich were lacking. I also found about 3 gristle or bone pieces in my patty, disappointing for sure. They may have been something from mushrooms, but I highly doubt it from what I felt and spit out. I will try the pork chop next visit. On the other hand, my sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked all the way through and hot. YUMMY! The Margarita, according to my husband, was delicious and not lacking in the mainstay ingredient. My drink made with Malibu, pineapple, and cherry juice in a tall glass was refreshing, hitting the spot of satisfaction.

My burger was the only issue. Otherwise, I would have given a 5 star review on food and drink. They have a bar to sit at and several large t.v.'s for those watching the home team games.

Ya'll need to...

This place was filthy! The front doors do not close all the way so there were flies EVERYWHERE. My friend and I spent the entire time swatting at flies and trying to keep them off of our food and off of us as if we were either outside or in a third world country! I ordered a burger and fries which was satisfactory and cooked as requested, so no complaints there at all. The service was also great! Our waitress was friendly and did a great job. When I went to pick up the condiment bottles, they were covered in grease, food, hair, and only God knows what else. The menus (laminated menus so they can and should be cleaned) were exactly the same. The seat was dirty with grease and food as well. I don’t know why this seems to be a continuing problem here in the valley. My family and I have had multiple experiences like this in several different establishments here. I have family members who have visited and don’t want to return because everywhere they went was filthy and gross! The unsanitary conditions could be why there are so many reoccurring illnesses in this place, especially things like NOROVIRUS! It may also explain why so many residents are experiencing severe, chronic stomach problems that no doctor can seem to figure out. I worked in a restaurant and part of my job was to disinfect the tables, the seats, the condiment bottles, and ESPECIALLY the menus. I thoroughly disinfected all of the menus before I left at the end of every shift. I am now a registered nurse and have been for 21 years, so I’m not just some ignorant “Karen” trying to be difficult. I genuinely care and want things to be better out here. I moved here in 2017. This is my home now! I want my family and friends to have pleasant experiences when they visit. I want them to want to return. I also want to say that I have eaten here several times before and it was not like this. If things don’t start to improve someone may need to call the state health department so everyone gets their act together, so we don’t suffer. There are regulations in place to help protect us so you need to...

Read the other 1 star reviews, the bad staff are not an isolated incident it is a systemic problem here. The owner can be seen commenting on reviews displaying the very attitude they are describing saying bad reviews are fake, it never happened etc. Truly astonishing.

They dont care about customer service or even just not being rude and its the managers as well as the wait staff. It has been this way a long time and every time i try to give them another chance it is a mistake. Waited a good 2 hours for them to get the food out and had to get going so I politely asked to get my check for the drinks because I couldn't stick around and wait. They brought the food out instead of the check for the drinks and rather than apologize for taking so long they grouped up to prevent us from getting up and straight away threatened to call the cops if I didn't pay for the food that I told them I didn't want after waiting 2 hours and one lady chimed in "it was only an hour and a half" (which it wasnt) like that was better somehow. Then they smugly smiled and asked if I wanted a to go box and I left the untouched (likely tainted) food that I was forced to use my card to pay for under duress right there on the table. 0 apology for the long wait just threats.

Thought about this incident a lot before writing a review/ filing a complaint with visa so it wasnt just me being disgruntled in the moment and it still bothers me. It's not even the first time that these people have refused to accept any responsibility for their mistakes they just give you a smug attitude and 0 apology. Let it be known that the food is mediocre, often inedible, and the staff use intimidation tactics against customers who dont want to wait 2 hours for food because the staff apparently are incapable of accepting fault or taking accountability for their own mistakes. They are just rude, narcissistic and have serious entitlement issues. I highly suggest going literally anywhere else because there are many places in fruita with better food and staff that aren't...
