Summary: 100% recommendation! Satisfying korean-genre food with spectacular service.
For years I have had this restaurant tagged to try, and it finally happened following the KARD: WildKARD in LA 2019 concert in La Mirada.
We were all hungry and it was already past 11pm, but J's would be open until 3am so we headed out to Fullerton with the expectation of great late night eats.
If we had scrutinized the map beforehand, we would have noticed that this small shop is in the heart of the revitalized downtown neighborhood. At midnight the sidewalks and restaurants were packed with fellow young people having a fun night out. The energy was awesome!
Lucky for our group of four, there was no wait at J's. The photo menu taunted our grumblung somachs with too many appetizing dishes, but eventually we picked Bibimbap Burritos and Bulgogi Sliders, plus J's Loaded Fries for the table.
We waited a reasonable amount of time for our food to come out. Every plate was obviously freshly made to order. Everything tasted absolutely perfect, and we'll definitely return to try more of the menu.
The staff earns an extra commendation for providing the most polite restaurant service that I've ever met for this price range. Every single person who served us--at least four individuals for different tasks--was focused but friendly, and acutely aware of how to make customers feel appreciated.
I would give extra points if I could for including Mamamoo and Moonbyul in the kpop music videos playing on one of the...
Read moreJ's Korean Cuisine was okay. It was very expensive for what it was and it was not really worth the price. I ordered the Deluxe Bibimbap, the Bulgogi Rice Bowl, and J's Supper Fries with two waters and it came out to almost $50. They seem like big portions when they brought out but once my friend and I started to dig in we realized that there was very little protein on any of the dishes and what we saw as a lot of food was a lot of filler carbs. For example the Bulgogi rice bowl was $11.50 we got very little Bulgogi and lettuce and once we had taken three bites all the meat was gone. The Deluxe Bibimbap was decent but I ran into the same problem as the rice in that there was little to no actual protein in the dish and they charge a whopping $17.50 for it. The meal comes with Bulgogi, shrimp tempura and tofu and all together I had very little of either the Bulgogi and shrimp it was almost all tofu. Which I don't mind if I was paying for a tofu dish. Last but not least the staff. When my friend and I walked in there was one other couple. They left shortly after we came in so it was just my friend and I in the restaurant . We were ignored by the staff till our food was delivered. What were they doing you might ask ? Well from the very loud conversations the 3 of them were having we learned all about there sex lives and other inappropriate things that I do not want to hear about while I'm eating. All in all while the food was okay definitely not coming back here due to the service...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite places to stop in Fullerton whenever I’m passing through LA sometimes I will detour out of my way just to stop here.
If you’re lucky, you can park on the street but if not, there’s a parking structure across the street with lots of parking.
You have to walk down the alley to get to the location which can be kind confusing because sometimes Google maps leads you wrong.
When you arrive it’s seat yourself, but sometimes they will help you choose a table if it’s a little bit busier.
My favorite dish is the RBK, which is Ramen with the sauce and flavor of dukbokki. The meat is always good and they give you two halved eggs. It’s very spicy and I usually can only eat half which leaves me with leftovers.
The soy garlic wings are really good as well as the K-pop tacos. They’re jiggae isn’t something crazy good but it’s still pretty delicious.
The only issue I’ve had here is the maybe 10 times I’ve been there is one waitress who doesn’t like to write down any orders and when I went last time, she tried to memorize our order which was only two things and she got them all wrong. I was given Seoul Ramen instead of the Ramen bokki and she added cheese to my already wrong Ramen order when it was supposed to go on the dukbokki dish. They let me keep the Ramen and made my actual order, but it was about another 10 minutes of waiting.
Other than that, it’s a great place. You can also order pick up and it’s been very good that way too. I just prefer to eat...
