my foodie persona: natural flavors, less fried carby junk. if ur like me, then read on. otherwise, pls skip my review
in regards to the tortas and burritos, it's definitely more a Tex-Mex style than the traditional Mexican fare I prefer
Cabeza Torta: Had thousand island-style mayo with shredded iceberg lettuce, pickled jalapenos, and was two-layered with 3 buns. The cabeza was tender and juicy but the flavor of the cabeza was muted as it was overpowered by the mayo. Tasted like a cabeza big mac. Good for a first, but will try the cabeza taco next time instead
Surf n Turf Burrito: had guac, didn't know it comes with fries inside (my first time I guess). flavors of the sauce and guac were great but the fries were dry
Lengua Burrito: rice and beans and pepper jack cheese stuffed inside. Lengua was flavorful and juicy; beans were lacking flavor and a bit dry; the pepper jack cheese made it feel very American and took flavor away from the burrito. it did give it a meaty, cheesy flavor for those that enjoy it
Next time: I'll just stick with tacos or try the al pastor burrito.
Edit: To me you are more TexMex. the cabeza torta I ate, tasted more like a Big Mac than any torta I've eaten from 10 different taquerias. I'm here to inform others if they may feel...
Read moreThe worst establishment ever. Where the customer is always wrong. Went last night for the first time. Food was so so and super expensive so for Mexican food. We spent $75 on 5 items and as soon as we get home they did not give us an item . I wasn’t about to go back at 8 pm to get it . Waste of time and gas. I told them to refund me the money. After dealing with the cashier for 10 min she said okay. Come back anytime, so I show up this morning and the workers have no idea. They really pissed me off. Instead of apologizing and fixing the issue they did not make it right. Will never go there again. Honestly don’t bother coming here. Go to Tacos Los Cholos on Brookhurst and...
Read moreI love Navarros and order here regularly and the food and service is always great. It is my favorite taco spot in town. However this morning I had an interaction that didn’t sit right with me. Wanting to try the breakfast burrito, I checked the hours online before driving out to make sure they’re open. I show up at 9:30 and the door is locked, a staff member inside sees me and tells me that they open at 9am. I reply back saying it’s 9:30 am and show him the time on my phone. The staff member didn’t say anything and just walked away, no explanation, nothing. I’m not going to lie this...
