⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Discovering the Taco 'East' in the 'West' at Munecas Downtown Taco Garden! 🌮🌮🌮 I've been on an epicurean expedition to unearth the ultimate taco, and I've discovered the X marks the spot right in Gainesville's Munecas Downtown Taco Garden. Picture a charming little nook, brimming with whimsical decor, situated smack-dab in the historic downtown area, cozy and inviting, right by the community plaza. But hold your sombreros, it's not just about the enchanting ambience. The food! With an audacious Asian fusion menu side-by-side with a tantalizing spread of curries, it's as if the East and West shook hands over a tortilla! Truly, the gastronomic embodiment of the Trans-Pacific Partnership! My order of the day? Wok tacos! An Asian-infused twist to the locally caught fish taco combo that had me performing a conga line right there! The tortillas were an immaculate treat, each bite transporting me to a mystical realm where corn tortillas are treated with the respect they rightfully deserve - well-cooked, warm, and inviting. Ventured on to sample their Whole Chicken Taco. Another stellar performance that would make even the snootiest of poultry critics cluck in approval. And let's taco 'bout their hot sauces, handcrafted in-house with a choice of four different types. While three tended towards the sweeter side (not quite my salsa but hey, variety is the spice of life, right?), the green verde sauce was an absolute delight. Not as hot as I usually like, but with such zesty flavors, I barely missed the extra heat. The fusion of flavors at Munecas is an exhilarating ride, making every bite an adventure. So if your travels take you to Gainesville and you miss out on Munecas, you'd be skipping a whole theme park of taco delights. So don your sombrero, embrace the adventure, and embark on this five-star taco journey! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Munecas is a hidden gem that caters to vegetarians with its mouthwatering offerings, particularly the volcanic tempeh bowl. The volcanic tempeh steals the show with its perfect seasoning and impeccable sear, delivering a burst of flavor with every bite. Complemented by a base of fresh and flawlessly cooked rice and beans, each bowl is a symphony of taste and texture. What truly sets Muneca’s apart is its diverse selection of toppings, with the radish standing out as a crowd favorite, adding a refreshing crunch to every spoonful. And let's not forget about the guacamole – it's nothing short of divine, earning the title of the best in Gainesville. Beyond the food, Muneca’s boasts a clean and modern ambiance that sets the stage for a delightful dining experience. The staff radiates happiness and relaxation, even during peak hours when the restaurant is packed with eager customers. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the turnaround time for food is impressively quick, ensuring that patrons are never left waiting long. For those looking to quench their thirst, the bar offers a selection of cool drinks in a clean and inviting setting. And perhaps most importantly, Muneca’s manages to deliver all of this without breaking the bank, making it a rare find in Gainesville where quality and affordability converge. In conclusion, Muneca’s is a must-visit destination for vegetarians and food enthusiasts alike. With its delectable vegetarian bowls, inviting atmosphere, and friendly staff, it's no wonder that Muneca’s is one of the top dining spots in Gainesville.

I’ve been looking for a new burrito place because Chipotle has become increasingly disappointing. They are always out of staple ingredients like rice or veggies. Munecas burritos aren’t as big as Chipotle’s, but they are just as if not more flavorful! I have found my new favorite burrito place and can feel better about giving my money to the local community. Plus, Munecas has a great atmosphere. I always sit outside and get to enjoy the weather and sometimes live music. How come no one is mentioning their beer cheese queso?! Soo good and maybe the best queso I’ve had in town. They do give you lots of chips and plenty of queso. Even though the burrito isn’t as big as Chipotle, I always leave feeling full and satisfied. My go to so far is the mojo pork burrito with yum yum sauce. Their yum yum sauce is stellar. The only negative is they can get really busy and sometimes seem understaffed during busy times. Like you have to wait sometimes once it’s your turn to place your order because the person placing your order has to go help with kitchen stuff or handing other people their orders. However during slow times the service is good. I recently went 3pm on a Sunday and got my food within 5 minutes.

Description: Legend be told, Steamers was apparently this awesome place a little while back where students and residents of Gainesville alike would come and enjoy a good bite to eat. Unfortunately, I was unable to experience any of this; however, it might not be a bad thing after all. I read an article that Ken Eats Gainesville wrote about this place called Steamers reopening in Bo Didley Plaza and I knew it was fate... Actually that's not true. When I first heard the name, I instantly thought about this awful place back in my hometown and thought they were the same restaurant.

Food & Service: Getting a little off topic, anyways, I went with a friend just last week to go and check the place out myself. I was thrown off when their menu consisted of fried rice and curry with woks lined up in plain view. Apparently the name comes from steaming their burgers but the fried rice and curry seem to be more popular. Steamers is also considered vegetarian on Yelp, just a tad confusing in my opinion. Despite the confusion, I appreciated their water dispenser and outside seating. This is definitely the kind of place you could bring your friends to hang out and eat on one of their benches. The food took a little longer than expected but the portions were huge! Unless you're starving, you'll probably need a box. Price was very reasonable, we paid about $8.00 or $9.00 each. My friend ordered the fried rice which was pretty flavorful and cooked well. I ordered the curry with tempeh. I was told their tempeh was pretty awesome and I wouldn't disagree. Note that this was my first time having tempeh though lol.

Final Thoughts: All in all, good place to stop by and eat! I'll be back and probably with a group of friends this time since the outdoor seating gives a nice catch up, get together feeling. I also want to give their steamer...
