2021: Great tasting deep dish pizza here at Satch Squared. Expect to pay up to $14 per pie if you're getting extra toppings. Well worth the price since 2 slices will fill you up, and a square pie is 4 slices. It's always a treat to go here for date night. They shut off the waffle machine earlier than their closing time, so make sure you call ahead if you're going there in the evening if you want waffles!
Update: 10/19/23 Under new management, and now called Square House Pizza. The place still feels the same and smells like a slice of pizza heaven. They expanded their selection of touristy knickknacks so now there's a longer aisle of stuff for sale. My favorite ones to look at are the tiny hands for your fingers 😅 "lemme give you a hand"
Anyway, the square pizzas are smaller than when my husband and I first tried this hot spot 2 years ago, but they still taste pretty good. I ordered 6 pizzas for an office meeting today for pickup, and it was ready, fresh, in 20 minutes. 2 cheeses, 1 sausage, 1 pepperoni, 1 pineapple, and 1 ham, all well-done. Total was about $80 with tip and round up donation to RUFC. The counter guy (rockin' a Steelers hat) was polite and friendly. They still offer free stickers and tiny button pins with your pizza purchase (grabbed a few for my co-workers).
As a side note, parking during a busy lunchtime crowd (about 1:30pm) was a bit tricky for the pickup, but there are street parking spots that are free if you're good at parallel parking. They have scooter parking in the front to accommodate the college crowd.
The office staff was happy for the pizza during the meeting. Thanks for another great pizza...
Read moreI really hate to leave a bad review, but I had such a bad experience here the other evening. I’ll start by saying - the gluten free crust is good and overall the pizza is good. BUT $24 for a small personal pizza is STEEP - fine I’ll pay it for a good gf pizza - however, they consistently are incredibly stingy with toppings (that are $1 each). I’m talking a couple tiny pieces of sausage on each slice.
When I went this weekend, they forgot one of my toppings and the others were so minimal there was barely any topping on each slice. I went up to the window to very politely ask for the topping they forgot, and also to add a bit more of the others. The man working the window added the missing topping but very rudely informed me that they couldn’t add more of the others because it would slow down production and proceeded to shut the window in my face as I was responding.
I totally get that it was a Friday night and busy. If the guy had been more polite and even just apologized or offered to take a couple $ off my pizza for the (basically) missing toppings, I don’t think I even would have written this review. But he was so rude and dismissive, I won’t be coming back here. I literally was planning on buying a waffle here for dessert and decided not to after this experience. Really...
Read moreLittles and bigs loved everything about this Satchel's offshoot. The vibes cannot be beat. Littles loved the trinkets right off the order counter and adults loved that it kept them preoccupied while we figured out what to order.
Detroit style deep dish was crispy on the bottom yet soft up top, and super flavorful no matter what toppings you get (we got the cheese, pepperoni, and the major). 1 pizza can feed 2 moderately hungry adults, or one STARVING adult.
The waffles were RIDICULOUSSS. I'm not sure how they got them to be so light and delicately crispy. Served with soft butter and real maple syrup, one whole order for our crew of 2 adults and 3 young kids was not enough simply because they were so good. I'm not sure 2 full orders would have been enough. Maybe 3? Maybe 10?
HUUUUGE space out back with picnic tables and plenty of safe space, away from the street/parking lot, for kids to run around (the size of a small park!). There is even a small kid's playset. We ate in the bread truck and were pleasantly surprised by the bluetooth speakers - we hooked up to it with our phone and played some jams...
