Simply dishonest.
The food is average, but the guy behind the registrar is dishonest and it tricks you. He speaks Spanish and he speaks English enough to understand. But he plays the game that he doesn’t fully understand when things go wrong. I fortunately had my girlfriend (fluent in Spanish) to translate and help out. When I went there he charged me $36+ and the receipt had only the total price. When I asked for a full receipt with all the single items cost, he didn’t understand, and I did not get it. Who knows if that is even legal? I want to know how much I was charged for each single item, but I couldn’t.
Within my order I have ordered extra 4 tortillas, but I did not received them. He even asked me if I wanted the tortillas on the side and I said ‘yes’. Again, no extra tortillas received. When I asked for the 4 missing tortillas, he wanted to charge me $0.40 each. Ok, no problem. I’ll just pay. I had only my credit card and he said that the minimum order is $5 with credit cards. Really? After he forgot to give me tortillas and after he charged me $36+, I had to spend another $5 to get the tortillas that I already ordered? Similar thing happened to my girlfriend. She ordered guacamole or something similar, but she did not received it. Without repeating the story, my girlfriend had the same problem as me.
This guy probably tricks many people by not giving them a detailed receipt. In this way customers cannot see what they were charged for. Also, often, people avoid confrontational situations. So customers may not say anything and swallow it. I can’t stand to dishonesty. I wish that people would speak up, because dishonest people would have less opportunities to trick honest people.
I don’t understand why so many good reviews, the food is ok, but not exceptional. After noticing their dishonesty, I started to doubt the reviews as well. I have been in places with few stars and their food was better. Yelp stars don’t mean much, I suggest trying places without looking at their stars. Yelp has a filtering system that is not good. Some reviews get filtered and trashed, while others stay. Everything is decided by their automated computer filter, so you can’t...
Read moreOrdered food from here for a long time however, recently the orders have been coming out with far less quality and also either were missing things I paid for or missing things I asked for explicitly. Unfortunately, my efforts to resolve such conflict with the Actual Restaurant have been to no avail. I have called twice before… both times they told me to simply order again and they’ll get it right this time. Finally, it happened again where things were missing from the order (being the order isn’t just for me and I’ve called about this before it was a bit disappointing) I called one more time about the last order that was missing two things on the side…again. I was able to speak to Leslie again, which she heard me out, again… however, this time she muted herself for maybe three seconds and then hung up the phone. I called back presuming it was an accident but she answered and hung up again. Now I happened to be outside of the taco bar when this happened. So, maybe a minute later, I walked in and Leslie (usually at the front) has the phone in front of her… as if she just finished speaking on it. I asked if I spoke with her and she hesitated to agree while giggling with colleagues for a brief moment. I left it at that, ordered my food and left. This time they actually did make sure to gather everything in the order. But I am really unhappy with how there still was never any correction for the times before. Additionally, it’s clear they do not care about their customers. Very disappointing as I love the food but don’t seem to be accommodating or accountable for...
Read moreBeen coming to this place for years but today was the final reminder of other places being better. Pre-pandemic, it was fantastic and we would come every month at least. Post-pandemic, everything except for the chips and guac have become worse in quality. Not worth it anymore. Came in to buy dinner for my family, two 2 taco combo platters, and some chips and guac for our daughter. I asked the Cashier how many salsas came with each platter and she stated one for each. So I asked if I could pay for extras, to which she said no it’s okay, we’ll give you two extras. I got my order pretty speedily, but when we got home and opened the bag, there was not a single salsa for either of our platters. And to boot, the lime pieces we got were so tiny, we literally had to cut up some limes when we got home. The tacos were super dry without the salsa so we just ended up not being able to eat most of our food. The chips and guac were great though thankfully. The place wasn’t packed and they weren’t busy, but somehow were so distracted that they didn’t give us salsas. The horchatas are also way smaller in size than they use to be, and they load it up with ice. They should’ve never changed this place. There’s no sides bar anymore either, they just really skimp out on the toppings now.
Save your money, go somewhere else. This place isn’t worth the money or drive. There’s plenty of great taco spots in the DMV, this place just isn’t...
