I had been keeping an eye on the opening of this location and I was incredibly excited when it the day came that it finally opened. We ordered delivery from Spicelife and each of our orders came precisely as we had requested. My husband likes to be in physical pain when he eats and the spice level was exactly as he desired but it also allowed him to taste and enjoy his meal (so many restaurants just add burning heat and the other flavors are lost entirely). The second time we dined, we visited for lunch with our infant (who stole most of my heavenly garlic naan) - our food was impeccable. Consistency is key and this places does it right! Wonderful variety of choices for your standard lunch/dinner items.
Our most recent meal was this evening, we had noticed the unique bowl offering which I can describe most closely relates to a bowl at CAVA (for my DCMV peeps) or a rice bowl at a place like Chipotle....just 1,000,000 times better. It's an Indian Buffet in a bowl! You have the option to add rice, all sorts of curries (chicken, lamb, lentil, chickpea...you name it), as well as sauces and vegetables. To top it all off, two slices of toasty warm naan are included in your meal for $10.95. You won't find a better tasting or better priced meal anywhere else. We've tried so many Indian restaurants in the area over the last year and Spicelife is head and shoulders above the rest. If you're doing deliver, eating in, or picking up for takeaway - you will always have a...
Read moreFood is good. However, as soon you walk towards the front they dont explain that they have two choices of service and food preparation. They assume that you want a bowl (think Takorean) and dont even mention that they have a full dinner option. The bowl version is rather stingy, for example they served only 3 small chunks of chicken on my Chicken Tikka Masala. They guy actually counted... LOL. Also, the menu in front doesn't give you any . From what I saw a few tables down, the dinner portion actually seemed adequate. When i asked the cashier/waiter to explain the different food service. He curtly explained the 2 service options and noticed that the dinner option was what I wanted, he followed with... and i am not kidding... "Maybe Next time you can try the other option.". Yeah it would have been nice to know that before hand. To top it all off. After i ordered a fountain drink, he walk to the drink station to notice that there werent any cups. I naturally walked back to the cashier again and asked where the cups where? And produced the cup from under the table. Smh. In short, food is good but stingy (bowl option). And the food was overpriced ( 2 bowls + bread...
Read moreI learned about this place through Yelp and it was on my list, so when the opportunity came up, I was excited to try this place, but also slightly skeptical. This is a make-your-own-bowl kinda Indian place, and I have tried a similar style Indian food in the past with disappointing results. As soon as you enter the restaurant, the cleanliness and amount of space stood out to me. This place can accommodate many small and big parties of people. The food is North Indian, so if you are even slightly familiar with Indian food, then I am sure you will be comfortable creating your own bowl. I chose to create my own vegetarian bowl and got a piece of naan on the side. You can also ask for raita (yogurt dip), fresh cilantro chutney and pickles (Indian vegetable pickles) on the side. Again, I was slightly skeptical, but all the ingredients came together very well and I was very impressed! It was a delicious bowl of the food I loved and ate till my food baby tummy was visible. The quality, quantity and taste of the food justifies the price of the bowl. Check out...
