Indulge in the pleasures of life with a hearty scotch or a velvety Napa Cabernet; you might even venture into the world of boulevardiers. Yet, my fellow seekers of culinary delight, let's not kid ourselves into thinking such elixirs truly belong in this sanctum. Oh no, my friends. For in this hallowed establishment, the Pelican and Shark, we shun the fanciful and bask in the glory of a crisp beer, the embrace of a Gulf-kissed sunset, and a service bar that knows not the art of pretense. Not to say that they aren't capable of a good cocktail, because boy oh boy, they are.

This is not just a watering hole; it's a realm of authenticity. Here, the bartenders wear their personalities like badges of honor, unapologetically serving up liquid joys as straightforward as the setting sun. When you step into the Pelican and Shark, you're not just quenching your thirst; you're becoming part of a legacy, a tradition of Galvestonian allure.

As the day's last rays caress the waters of the Gulf, your libation of choice in hand, you'll feel it – the beating heart of Galveston, pulsating with stories of long nights on the bay, hard work and laughter. So here's to the Pelican and Shark, where drinks flow like the tales of old, where the charm of Galveston converges with the promise of new memories. Raise your glass, my friends, to a life well-lived, to the beauty of the moment, and to the endless allure of this Texas treasure. Cheers to nights that stretch their arms wide and to the promise of the unknown that...

While my husband was fishing Friday evening Aug 29, 2025 I enjoyed drinks at the bar here. The bar tenders have always been friendly and provide good service.

Me and my husband. always enjoy this bar when we visit Galveston, several times a year. It's just the best to "be on" the water, feeling the cool breeze, seeing people fish or fish ourselves and enjoy a cold beverage with good people like Varinia who we love as bartender when we visit.

If you read the 1 star review of Willie Coleman, I was sitting by myself, when she came to the bar to order. All I will say is that the situation of ordering and taking the drinks as described did not happen. And especially nothing racist, so please don't believe that review. I would be gladly testify on the whole situation if need be.

This photo taken was from the afternoon on the same day when we were checking out the fishing luck for that day. It looks even better at night. We celebrated our first weekend as a married couple earlier this year there because we love this spot so much.

P.S. the fishing pier gives 50% discount to veterans on their...

8/9/23 - The service was rude the minute we got up there. We order 2 drink one for each of us at 10pm was told there was no salt or anything for the rim of our drinks. Went back up there at 11:10pm to order another one and she said she wasn't making any more drinks for the night only canned drinks or frozen drinks. She said she didn't have ash trays also but mind you we have been there every night for the last 3 nights and was service until 12am and got a ash tray every night. Will not order from there again any time she is working. If I could leave her 0 stars I would!! Update.... 8/10/23 - the next morning I seen my total was changed the server added a $3 tip so make sure you fill out all spots on your receipt since she commits credit card fraud!!! Still waiting for a manager to call me back and I'll be reporting it to my credit card company also! Its not about the money it about the audacity she has to be rude and half away do her job and thinks she...

The Pelican and the Shark is a fantastic spot for a relaxing coastal escape! From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. They will go above and beyond to accommodate a special drink request, a thoughtful touch that didn’t go unnoticed. We enjoyed a Pina Colada and a Strawberry Margarita, both perfectly blended and refreshing. The tropical flavor from the Pina Colada instantly transported us to vacation mode, while the Strawberry Margarita had just the right balance of tart and sweet, with a vibrant, fruity kick. Paired with the stunning ocean view and the sound of waves in the background, the atmosphere was unbeatable. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to linger just a little longer, where great drinks and great company meet the beauty of the sea. Highly recommend for weekend unwinding, beach side vibes, and exceptional hospitality!

When we arrived on the island last Wednesday evening (stayed a total of four nights for our tenth anniversary), we checked into our hotel and immediately started looking for night life/bars. This was the first one that caught my eye. I got an old fashioned and my wife got a mai-tai. Both drinks were amazing. The atmosphere here is pretty well unmatched because it's one of the only bars on the island that is out on an actual pier. Not only that, but the structure is two stories tall, and the bar is at the top. Bartender was friendly and made our drinks fairly quickly. We definitely would've come back, but there are so many attractions on Galveston Island that we wanted to see them all! The evening was a great time to come, but if you want to have a great view of the horizon on the Gulf of Mexico, come early evening when the sun is going down!
