Good authentic Mexican food in a decidedly Hispanic environment....best Tex Mex enchiladas I've ever had....usually the best guac too...and a generous portion....prices generally below what you would normally expect......good shrimp cocktail and fajitas too. I've noticed that there are some very negative reviews, that's mostly because of misplaced expectations....this place it decidedly Mexican in decor and atmosphere....you feel like you are in a hole in the wall place in Nuevo Laredo....it looks dated and even maybe dirty....to me, that's the atmosphere....I feel I'm south of the border when I'm in there...also, sone of the meals complained about are done of the more exotic dishes you may not see here locally much...stay with the basics, fajitas, enchiladas, tamales, shrimp cocktail, burritos, etc ...their serving of large guacamole costs as much as anywhere else, but you get 2-3 times as much and it's better ...their picante sauce for chips us generally kinda hot, but it varies from visit to visit, that way you know they make it fresh....this place was a Pizza Hut or Inn back in the late 60's, so it's been there a while and they've really not fine much to update the interior....but they've been there for probably 20 years now ...so if they're there that long, the food must be good and the eye test is what's wrong....and the TV's have novellas on all the time and the music played is all Tejano stuff and the jukebox is loaded with Tejano classics.

The cheese enchiladas are still the best I've had north of Leakey, Texas.....just change your excitations if the atmosphere and play like you are in Nuevo Laredo before 9-11....you'll really...

First off I didn’t take pictures, wish I would have. We have been coming here for years but not regulars by all means, maybe 2 times a year. Today our experience was horrible. The server approached us and took our order, she brought out chips (fresh) and green and red salsa. The only one with a spoon was the green one which seemed like maybe it had already been used. We sent it back, we stayed with the red one only. She then proceeded to bring us silverware in rolled napkins, when I opened mine it had a hard left over rice stuck to it. Once we placed our order (hubby: tampiquena, me:hígado encebollado, kids: nuggets and fries) one of my daughter’s ketchup had already been used. They serve their ketchup in disposable plastic containers with a lid like most restaurants, well hers was in top of not one but two dirty ketchup containers and when I checked each cup had leftover ketchup. I told the waitress and she just said oh, and left to get a clean one. When my plate arrived, I grabbed a tortilla for my hígado and the tortilla got dirty with blood, the meat was undercooked and even dripped blood on the napkin. I was disgusted, I also went to the ladies bathroom and their sink was clogged and full of dirty water. Lastly, when it was time to pay their debit card machine kept freezing and they charged me twice, the cashier was able to reverse one of the transactions. We payed $75 or so and it will be the last time. I’m surprised they’re still open, I will be calling the health department. Staff is kind but it is worthless if hygiene is...

My mom loved this place and goes for the menudo. So my family decided to go eat here for some late breakfast. When we got there I noticed it was dead so great no wait time. We ordered our food and it came quickly, but our order was incorrect. We asked for potatoes instead of rice but there was apparently a miscommunication on the servers part and we weren’t told about the time they stopped serving potatoes with that plate and they were out of potatoes at 11am. So whatever we were fine with rice. However for my plate I requested for scrambled eggs and my mom asked for her egg sunny side up but not runny. Her egg was runny and mines weren’t even scrambled it was a sunny side egg cut up to look scrambled. So at this point I was frustrated. I tried to call over my server to explain the situation and she looked at me and complained about us to her coworker and ignored us. So at this point my mom was upset and complained to other lady that was at the bar and after that for the rest of the service we received dirty looks from the two other servers working that day. We honestly should’ve left, but we were already there and we were hungry. But definitely the last time we will be going there. The servers attitudes were horrible and I felt like I was back in high school with a bunch of insecure mean girls. And a restaurant that can’t seem to make a scramble egg...
