Heroes may be made in Jersey, but two "hero makers" here in Gaylord made the difference to our family as we strolled in 5 minutes before close.
It was late and we had been on the road much of the day. We were relieved to be off the highway and grab a very late dinner. We were excited for some JM sandwiches but weren’t sure how late they were open. As we walked up to the door at 8:55pm we saw the 9pm closing time and some workers inside cleaning up for the night. The sign still said OPEN, but as you know, opening a businesses door 5 minutes before closing can sometimes prompt eye rolling, tomato throwing, or an extra ingredient in your order 😳… We rolled the dice and walked in asking if they were still accepting customers. The response from the two gentlemen there, Mike and Mateo, couldn’t have been more welcoming; excited to see us, glad we were there, and happy to serve us.
After getting a few things they had put away for the night back out they started making our orders which took them about 15 minutes past closing. They found a coupon for me to use and though we decided to eat outside, they wouldn’t have cared if we dined in.
I learned that Mike was the store GM and Mateo was the night manager; two guys who were genuinely about taking care of people - having fun with the kids, asking questions, bringing smiles. Mike even came out to where we were eating and brought us a few of extra treats that were set to expire the next day; not just great service… but above and beyond.
Mike mentioned a new store opening in Petoskey that he’ll be helping with. I can’t wait. I’m a big fan of Jersey Mikes sandwiches anyhow… but a bigger fan of good people who genuinely desire make a positive impact in people’s lives… Bonus Track: a memorable experience for my kids as they saw a great example of how you should treat people, and the difference it can make. Thanks Mike and...
Read moreFood was good and everyone was polite like usual but not very helpful with their app. I was trying to figure out why the app wouldn't allow me to place a delivery order. The person I talked to on the phone said if my location services is on and I'm with 6 miles (I'm a mile away) that it should work and it was working for him but it still kept giving me an error saying delivery wasn't available at this time.
I asked the girl that rang me up since I had to drive there to get it and her response was just I don't know. No offer to see if someone might be able to find out or help in any way. I was hoping someone might have an answer as to why their app isn't allowing delivery orders for me because this is the second time this has happened and I so rarely have someone home besides me that can watch my kids for me to go drive there and get it. I prefer the food here to other places but if no one can help me figure out why I can't order on the app I'm just going to have to order delivery from somewhere else next time. Not going to pay a babysitter to drive and pick something up if the app doesn't work properly. I have updated it, uninstalled, reinstalled, location services is on. If it's on my end idk what...
Read moreHeard good things about Jersey mikes so we where traveling on Christmas Eve and stop. We were going to buy a giant sub. So we wanted chicken on one side ,cheese steak on other side. They where both same price for giant size. He wouldn't do it said because it was two meats had to be two sandwiches. Plus you know what it was Christmas Eve could of showed us senior's a little kindness say ok Merry Christmas but no. So we went across street to firehouse sub and told them what happened and they made it anyway we wanted and said Merry Christmas. We have also been to subway and they make subs anyway you want. Will not ever go back to that one or recommend this one. I worked retail over 30 years and I always help customers because they talk which helps your...
