After reading many mixed reviews, I thought I'd give this place a try. 4.4 stars means it can't be too bad, right? It's close to my work and I love Thai food!
I give 2 stars for my review bc the food was edible, although not very good.
I got carry out. Good thing too bc had I walked in there to dine in, idk if I would have stayed. The place is dirty. There's personal junk everywhere from a lady sitting there on her iPad, presumably the owner, and everything was just... dirty. The kind of place you dont want to touch anything. Then they were upset that I wanted to pay with cc for a $18 bill, which they overcharged me. Last I checked $10.95 plus $5 is $15.95, not $17.95. So either their menu online is outdated or they overcharged me, and then were upset by me wanting to pay with card. Who carries cash these days? And most places don't even accept cash anymore.
As for the food, it was extremely unextrodinary. Thom Yum soup with shrimp was literally Broth with 4 shrimp and some mushrooms. It was spicy, yes and the broth tasted good, but no other veggies and only 4 shrimp? The Pad Thai with tofu left everything to be desired. It was so bland and just tasted like noodles. It looked like it would have a lot of flavor, but it didn't.
I am disappointed in a restaurant of this low caliber being in Geneva, which is a nicer, more affluent area.
I will not be back and do not...
Read moreStill our favorite Thai restaurant in the Fox Valley area after residing in the FV for 20+ years! The decor has been updated and has a much tidier look than in past years and the menu has been expanded a bit too. It remains a small-spaced, BYOB eat-in/take out restaurant with excellent food. The service is fast, attentive and gracious. Their food is authentic, tasty and comes to the table steaming hot, very quickly and spiced (heat) to your liking. If you like fried rice--TRY the newly added pineapple fried rice...it is Delicious! The rice is perfectly cooked and neither mushy nor pasty dry (which has been the case at every other Thai restaurant that I've tried this dish). Pics attached from our most recent visit are Pineapple Fried Rice, Tom Kha soup and the Spring Roll appetizer. There is a slight issue regarding the front door entrance during Wintertime only. Being right off the street, it gives your legs a blast of cold air every time the door is accessed no matter where you sit in the restaurant. It would be great if they could place one of those above the door heated blower units which activate when the door gets opened to keep the small eat-in space pleasantly warm. This should not discourage customers from eating in because the food and service is wonderful. They also do a brisk take away business, so give them a try. Eat-in or take-out, you will NOT be...
Read moreWe normally go to a thai place in South Elgin but decided to try a different place. Story short, we will not be back. The food didn't look fresh and it didn't taste good. My wife had Pad See Eew and it was so so but she complained that the chicken didn't look like it was just made. It was dry and hard. My Pad Thai was terrible with all of the noodles dried up and clunked up together so that it was hard to eat. I ordered mine with chicken but for some reason there was tofu there as well. This leads me to believe that this was some leftover that they had from earlier that day or it was pre-made. Despite it being saturday night it was not busy at all with only 3 tables occupied. My son's chicken fried rice was also bland and didn't look fresh. He didn't finish all of it and we took it home but next day there was a horrible smell from the box and we threw it away. When we bring boxes home from other places you can keep it in the fridge for couple of days and it still tastes great. This one was horrible. We will not be back to this...
