Up North Wine Tasting Room — Restaurant in Geneva Township

I LOVE this place. Been there twice in three months (and I live 40 minutes away - so worth the drive). If you love Northern Michigan and it’s wines you will love this place. A fabulous staff, an intimate space that sets the right mood. You’ll forget you’re in Illinois. Great place for a date or to hang with good friends, order some flights, play some Euchre and relax. They have great snacks on hand (Cherry Republic chocolate cherries, nuts and some cheese spreads and crackers) but they encourage you to order food from local establishments and stay a while (Gia Mia pizza is one good option)....

We recently visited Up North for the first time and had a fantastic experience. Upon entering, the staff immediately came over to us and explained how the tasting worked and got us seated. Up North has a cycling menu that changes each month and features all kinds of wines from vineyards all over northern Michigan. This makes their current selections and bottles available feel that much more unique and special. We purchased a red cherry wine after our tasting and plan to be visiting...

We ordered a bottle of wine and then they hit us for a $10 on premise fee they call it. Well where do you think I want to drink it?! No where on their website or menu does it tell you of this fee. Also, if you want a tasting, it must be done standing at the bar. Well all the tables were empty and about 10 people were standing at the bar with no room for a tasting if I had wanted. I will not be returning, there are a lot of other more friendly places to enjoy...
