Food: We started with the calamari, which was expertly cooked—tender with a satisfying crisp. The lemon aioli, though slightly thin, still delivered great flavor. For our entrées, we both opted for steaks, my ribeye prepared Au Poivre and my partner’s NY strip in the Foxfire style. Both were cooked precisely to our requested temperatures. We also indulged in a surf and turf experience—my scallops were perfectly tender with a rich, deep sear, while my partner’s Ahi tuna, though well-seasoned with salt and pepper, would have benefitted from a more pronounced sear.
The sides, unfortunately, fell a bit short. The sautéed spinach was enjoyable but could have used garlic or shallots to elevate its flavor beyond just salt and butter. The sautéed mushrooms were notably bland, lacking seasoning or richness from butter.
For dessert, we were slightly disappointed to find that the carrot cake, listed online, had been replaced with crème brûlée. However, our selections still impressed—my cheesecake was delightfully light, complemented by a sweet raspberry sauce, though I would have preferred more sauce on the cake rather than the plate. My partner’s tiramisu was equally airy yet packed with a bold espresso punch.
The drink selection was another highlight of the evening. We sampled the Flannel Shirt, Major Fashioned, a Moscow Mule, and a Lemon-Blueberry Mojito—all well-crafted and enjoyable.
Service: Service was outstanding from start to finish. Our water glasses were promptly filled within minutes of being seated, and both drinks and food arrived faster than expected—without ever feeling rushed. Our server, Marcia, was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, answering all our questions with ease.
Atmosphere: As expected in a fine dining setting, the ambiance was dim but well-balanced—we had no trouble reading our menus, and the candlelit tables added a cozy touch. Visiting on a weekday, we found the noise level to be a pleasant murmur, creating a lively yet intimate setting. While I don’t recall any background music, the engaging conversation and delicious food kept my focus elsewhere.
Overall, our experience was highly enjoyable, with standout dishes and excellent service. While a few elements could be improved, the quality of the food and atmosphere made for a...
Read morePricey but you get some good quality cooking. I would recommend the Vanilla Bourbon Mashed Sweet Potatoes as they work also like a dessert and reminds me of the Southern holidays and would go great with some well seasoned wood smoked meats. The calamari is very tender and not over fried so they are not rubbery or lacking in flavor, the sweet mild chili sauce is nicely paired with the fried coating but the other sauce in my opinion should have been a citrus creamy wasabi for the pairing of the seafood and again just my opinion to kick it up. The water is something odd to talk about but it was sweet and fresh with no off odors so you know anything prepared with that same water in the kitchen is going to have a better flavor. It would have been nice to offer a fresh cut lemon or cucumber to add to the glass as to help cleanse the palette to fully enjoy everything you order. I added my own lemon as I had to try certain items to include the special mixed drinks we sampled. The dinner rolls were not warm and soft like we hoped, the plain unsalted butter was soft and creamy so you need to add a little salt, and it ended up we used the rolls for the soup since they were so chewy. So I would skip having them bring rolls to the table. Everything else for the main courses were eye pleasing and pleasing once it hits your tongue. I didn't really get the cup of tomato ketchup with the type of burger I ordered as it doesn't pair to what is in it and I didn't get a side of potatoes. I could see a cup of berry or pepper jam maybe as the ketchup is too overpowering and was a waste as if it it needs a certain sauce on it then the kitchen would have put it on it the meat. The atmosphere is very nice as the booths reminds me of the old nightclubs and why we had to order a very tasty Manhattan as we waited. So it's great for the older couples to feel nostalgic and the younger crowd to feel classy. The bartender made some of the best drinks we have ever tried. Great place to stop in for the causal drinkers. The beer selection was nothing special so I would stick with the...
Read moreGeneva is our happy place, and we had been walking around enjoying the day when it began to rain. We were unprepared so we walked about a mile in the rain and arrived at Foxfire soaked. We were looking forward to hot food and relaxation in the elegant atmosphere while we dried off. I had seen the menu online and thought it looked great. When we entered, the hostess asked us about alcohol menus and we declined. She practically rolled her eyes at us as she sat us in the back of the restaurant. Ice water came quickly and was even refilled as we shivered and waited for more service. We ordered hot tea which took approximately 30 minutes to arrive. I then ordered bacon wrapped dates which are one of my favorite things. Another long wait ensued. We finished our tea and prayed for more hot water. No servers paid attention to us so it didn’t come. The bacon wrapped dates finally arrived and were less flavorful than I was hoping. The bacon was also undercooked. I spat out the middles of a couple of the dates after I figured out what the chewy, greasy texture meant. During our next long wait for service, we debated paying for our tea and appetizer and leaving, but decided to give them a chance. I decided to order a bourbon in the hopes of making the staff happier which came quickly and was delicious. Finally, someone showed up and asked us if we needed anything. We asked for hot water and got it immediately before our main dishes were served. The main dishes were solidly good. They were cooked well and tasty, although I would say my filet mignon was over salted. My husband’s meatloaf was respectable, if not exactly delectable. All in all, we’ve been to much better steak houses and certainly had infinitely better service. On our next trip to Geneva, we will try a different dinner venue. Expensive lesson learned. Edit: today my digestion is showing that I indeed ate undercooked...
