Forever Family Soul Food Restaurant — Restaurant in Georgia

For starters, the food is GREAT! I've gone in on several occasions and complimented the professionalism of the staff in greeting and acknowledging customers as they enter the restaurant. The ONLY complaint I have is that on many occasions I've called in with the objective to bypass the wait...hoping to enter the restaurant and pick up my prepared order/food. On every occasion that I have done so, there were customers in line when I entered the store. Unfortunately, no one came from the back to ring my food up with only one person manning the front, and I ended up waiting the same as other walk-in customers...some times for an extended period of time. As would stand to reason, there is no way to project ahead of time the number of customers that may be ahead of me....so my wait time has varied. On visiting today, I encountered the same problem with a call-in order. I decided to call the owner, Janika James, picking up a business card at the register. There was no solution offered, similar to Piccadilly and other cafeteria/restaurants that service BOTH types of customers...walk-in and call- in...with an express line or at least someone to accommodate call-in customers as I understand that number may vary from day to day or even hour to hour and may not require someone on a regular basis in that position/area daily. I was told as if I were an adult with child like intellect that the customer that comes in first has to be accommodated. Absolutely, of course I would be upset as a walk-in customer if someone stopped serving me to accommodate another customer causing me to wait...but why not accommodate orders that are called in with someone simply ringing the customer up when they enter the store even if it is from another area temporarily. To hear we only have one person manning the front and that is the way it has always been...which is exactly what I was told is disappointing. Life is not about that is the way it has always been but instead studying trends, growing and improving. With four choices of soul food restaurants in the direct vicinity of the same location at this time...I will rethink this restaurant and my patronage...

(See pics.) I ordered the turkey wing meal with an additional turkey wing, sweet potatoes and collard greens. I ordered an additional large side of potato salad, macaroni and cheese, dressing, a small side of cabbage, a small side of yams, and an extra corn bread muffin. I also ordered two sweet teas with no ice with a small cup of ice and two bottled waters. The driver said there were 3 read and she dropped one, no ice. AND THE TEA WAS SOUR! I placed this order through UberEats. I received my food and was missing a turkey wing, there was a dip out of my dressing as if someone had taken a spoon and scooped some out and Replaced the top. The plate was so over loaded that the Styrofoam split through half the plate and the juice leaked out and into the bag there was so much sweet potato juice that it ran over into the rice and turkey. Let’s get to the taste… The potato salad was good initially but as you eat it you taste a strong hint of garlic. (Like too much salt or garlic salt. The macaroni and cheese is ok, it could use a little more flavor. The cornbread dressing was grainy as if they did not use enough chicken stock or turkey stock to give it the right texture, it’s very dry. The cabbage is going to remain uneaten because it tastes as if it came from an Indian restaurant. I’m wondering if that is curry that I am tasting. The collard greens have no taste and the turkey wings are pretty much the same. I asked for juice or gravy for the dressing and the rice and yes there was more than enough juice in the plate with the rice and turkey but as I said it leaked into the bag and there is nothing for this dry AF dressing. I will not be ordering from here again and this was a complete waste of almost $55.

Let me be fair outside of my feelings; the food overall is still a lot better than a lot of so-called "soul food" restaurants. (Except for the cabbage.) The dressing is still dry so 1 star for that. It's edible. The tea is not getting a pass for being spoiled. Just because I ordered my food just after 7 PM, does not mean I deserve subpar rations. The food is still...

First time at this place, (Sunday 9/7/25 ) @12noon. There was already a young lady that went in before 12:00 , so me and my daughter went in No Greetings just straight to what you need, I’m looking at the board trying to figure out the menu , so my daughter took the phone out to take a picture so we could order . I noticed the selection was a bit much only for 1meat and 2 sides already almost at $20 . So I picked the 2 baked chicken, rice, collards.yams, corn bread muffin No Drink ! My daughter ordered the cat fish , cabbage, macaroni cheese, cornbread muffin No drink cam with it. Here’s the issue I have why is the drink not included? I ask the young lady that took the order does the meals come with the drink she said no ! We was never offer a water cup but when the order couple came in white was caucasian they was greeted walking in , they order food they ask about the drinks coming with the meal , they ask how much was the drinks coming, oh she’s smiling very alert attentive with them and offer them water cups. And when I looked up at her she knew why I was looking the way the I was. Okay so we get our meals the food was torn on the plates very poorly to where it was running over out the plate with juice from the rice, yams and collards greens, the cornbread muffin was burnt and she still put it on my plate. My plate had so much of juice from the rice to it was more just than rice. The chicken was very small , salty, the yams was very loose with alot of juice / syrup, whatever it was the collard greens wasn’t even cut looks like they was cut 1time and put in the plate. Let’s get to my daughter plate with the fish , it was cooked to order ( we had to wait on it ) the fish was very small 1 piece but they cut it to make it 2 pieces , fried hard , no taste, cabbage was old with the color brown as if they been sitting for 2 days of over cooked very mushy , macaroni cheese was okay but could of been better , cornbread muffin was burnt also.
