Discrimination is worst-served by an old Jamaican woman!
Today, I went to this little place to pick up a snack; ordered 3 patties and 2 drinks! I noticed they had sugar cake, coco bread, and black cake. I could have easily lost my entire mind in there; sorry, I digress.
I sat outside and ate my beef patty and decided I should have another, just so I can finish off my sorrel. I returned to the counter and asked for a beef patty. The little old woman looked at me suspiciously. She then put the the patty in a bag and sat it on the counter close to her, instead of giving it to me. I told her that I would be using Apple Pay. She shook her head, indicating no, but didn’t say anything. I told her again that I will use Apple Pay and she said that I couldn’t for one item.
I then revealed to her that I was just in the restaurant and used Apple Pay and did not have cash. A gentleman offered to pay for the patty; I refused because it wasn’t something I needed and I was just supporting the local business. By the way, I am visiting from Chicago.
After the gentleman offered to pay, the woman decided to tell me that I could purchase the item with Apple Pay. The HUMAN BOSS MOVE would have been to step from behind the counter, offer an apology, and offer me the item, without charging me. You wasted my time and disturbed my energy over a $3 DAMMMMM BEEF PATTY!!!
It was very disturbing that a business owner would refuse payments in any form that they accept because the order consisted of one item. What if I could only afford one patty and my account would be at $0 after that transaction? I could have been spending my last $3 in your place of business, and you were too mean to honor my patronage.
As my mother would have said, “I went to Kingston 30 Jamaican Restaurant twice; THE FIRST TIME AND...
Read moreIf there was a 0 button I would have gave it to them. We are from Indianapolis Indiana here for our family reunion. We we in search of trying out a new place when we came across your business. We walked in the door which had no customers meanwhile the seafood place next door had barely room for seating but we still chose your business. Two young ladies were seated at the table and they gave us the look of why are you here, no hello or nothing. We sat at the bar area or counter and she proceeded to the register. We asked for a menu from way down on the other end which I wanted to leave but my husband really wanted some rice so he insisted we stay. The young lady handed us the menu and went to sit back down with the other young lady. My husband looked at the menu then looked at her and let her know we were ready to order. She walks back up to the register and looked at us from the register to the counter. By this time my husband was not happy because we did not feel welcomed to your business or that she even wanted to serve us. So he angrily walked down to her to order and asked for jerk chicken. She then mumbles something we asked her to repeat and she says we have no white chicken or something like so. Now had she helped us better she could have explained that to us before hand. So my husband was totally done and he was rightfully upset. As we walked out the door the young lady at the table gave us this nasty stare like we had upset her. I mean her eyes were big and she starred us down. At the end of the day we took our business to another establishment and they were happy to serve us with a warm welcoming greeting. On the other hand you lost money and we will never come back. I love to support my people and these are the...
Read moreI have been to this place on a few occasions. For the most part, the food is pretty good. I have only had their Jerk Chicken so far. There are some things that they can work on service wise but hey...
Parking can be somewhat limited directly in front of the location. However, this place shares an additional lot with Sugarloaf Mills, so you can park and just walk across the street if there isn't any readily available.
This place is very small. I have dined in twice and picked up a to go order twice. Today, I went and ordered Jerk Chicken white meat with no rice just veggies. The chicken was flavorful. They give you the option of spicy or mild sauce for the chicken. My veggies were not steamed enough. They were still extremely crunchy. This has not been the case in the past. I called my order in because I was in a rush to get back to work. I asked how long was the wait. I was told 5-10 minutes. I arrived about 8 minutes later and still had to wait another 10 minutes for my food. This is an inconvenience. I do not mind waiting for good, fresh food but please give an accurate estimate on wait time.
In the past, when I dined in, my main complaint was that no one comes to pick the tab up from the table. You have to take it to the register to pay. That somewhat defeats the purpose of dining in but no big deal.
The staff is normally quiet... but still friendly. I would definitely return. Next time, I may try...
