Hibachi-San in the Discover Mills Food Court is the only Japanese restaurant I regularly visit. I'm not a huge fan of Japanese food (especially sushi,) but I love this place! A good way to describe this place is "Japanese Panda Express." I LOVE Panda Express, and Hibachi-San is the same general idea...same fresh ingredients, and same quick, friendly service.
Their Lo Mein noodles are to die for, as are the Sweet and Pungent Chicken and the Grilled Teriyaki Chicken. The 2-meat platter is around $7, with a choice of rice or Lo Mein. Get the Lo Mein; you won't regret it. Did I mention they make the best, simplest, and most fresh-tasting Lo Mein around? The flavor notes are a little smoky, a little nutty, with good opposing soft Udon noodle/crunchy veggie textures.
Serving sizes are monstrous, too. I usually get my order to go, as I can't eat it all in one sitting. If you were a fan of Panda Express's lo mein (which they no longer serve) this is the place to get it! They also serve a variety of sushi and...
Read moreUpdate: I went by there on a Wednesday and they said they only make spicy honey chicken on Saturdays. That's literally the only thing that separates them from panda express and their best seller. Smh!
The spicy honey chicken has a good flavor but everything about this place is a joke. I'm not sure if it was always owned by panda express parent company, but the fried rice, egg rolls, etc are the exact same as panda express which is right next to this place in the food court. You could at least have your own rice recipe! In the past I could have sworn the rice was different. The last time I was here the digital menu boards were off and all they had was a little sheet of paper propped up. If you're struggling to stay open and/or have no standards, just say that. Also, stingy with the food for the price. There really shouldn't be any room left in the box for price and quality of food...
Read moreSugarloaf Mall is the midway stop for my family trips to see my dad. Hibachi-Sans is my go-to place to eat everytime we stop. Love the wasabi chicken. The rest of the family eats something else but I eat at Habachi-Sans because it's the best there is. If your unsure of something you see, ask them for a taste before you buy a meal. The have a one meat bowl that my son likes to get sometimes, a two meat, and three meat plates. I love to eat, and the two meat plate is large enough for me. On my last trip I learned that Habachi-Sans is owned by Panda Express. Always wondered why I had a Panda Express lid on the soda cup, just thought they borrowed some from next door because they run out or...
