If I could award 1/2 a star I would and I will be glad to explain why. First, I have been patronizing the whole chain of Johnny's NY Pizza for over 20 years. This Dacula location has been what my kids and I would describe as one of the "Old Reliables." Yet sometime at the end of June 2016 the store was closed for a week for renovations, and since then it has been SERIOUSLY down hill ever since.
On Sunday September 25th my family and I decided to stop in for dinner around 7:30 pm. We grabbed the last booth open which had a table wiping rag on it. We took it and expected somebody to come over right away and finish wiping it down. After making careful observation that a baseball team had 2 or 3 tables together and commanding the attention of the 2 member wait staff, we made eye contact with both wait staff to NO AVAIL.
After 10 minutes STILL nobody came to greet us or FINISH wiping down the table. My wife, 2 daughters and I got up and left. The couple sitting in the booth behind us who were there before us still didn't have drinks or anybody come to their table either. Our table still had the RAG on it when we left.
NOTE TO EVERYBODY: If you go there or order over the phone look or ask to see if there are any large groups, if so go somewhere else.
About a month ago my daughter and I visited and ordered an appetizer of mini garlic knots along with our separate dishes. Our drinks came out, service seemed normal then our main dishes. I asked where the garlic knots were? Waitress (one who was there tonight) said she messed up and didn't put them in and asked if we still wanted them. I said NO there was no need. 2-3 minutes later out she comes with the garlic knots explaining that she had put them in but the Medical School Students in the kitchen for some reason decided not to make them until after I said I didn't want them.
Bottom line is, instead of sinking any money into re-decorating they should put money into competent staff the place. One of the older original ladies is till there and very capable but she can't make up for absolute failing of the rest of the staff. Unless the unsuspecting locals keep supporting it, its not going to last...
Read moreWhen I first started visiting this location the pizza was fantastic, but my last couple of visits have been disappointing. On my last order I was told I could get a large specialty pizza for a special price when I initially ordered a medium but with the offer I upgraded unfortunately when i arrived there was a medium pizza and no breadsticks and when I asked about the mix up the young lady stated she was wrong you cant get the large specialty although I felt I shouldve still recieved it seeing as SHE offered it but fine then there were no breadsticks and when I asked about that she shrugged it off and said she didnt add it to the order although she read it back to me on the phone. Then today I visit an I see the gentleman putting my pizza in the box and the crust is black and burnt I asked about it and the young lady looked at me as if I were saying something wrong then offered to have another made after already waiting g 22 mins for this pizza and I have to go get my children from daycare and they were looking forward to this pizza so I HAD to take this burnt pizza home to my children. Unfortunately I will not be returning $22.25 for a BURNT pizza and nonchalant attitudes is a bit too much for me. I work hard for my money and if s person does not value my dollar I will no longer patronize your...
Read moreSo I went out of my way to try this place and it's pretty decent. I got the lunch special, two slices of pepperoni and a drink for $6. It was definitley filling. I would say if you are in the area and it's lunch time, I highly recommend it. I can't give them a higher rating than 3 stars because I've only had that order and while the slices were huge, it wasn't life-changing. It's just pizza. Big, thin, and cheap pizza that is quickly available. I will probably go back and try the calzones next time or the wings.
EDIT: 11/23/2021 I went back to try the calzones and it was a huge portion for $10. It was too much for me to finish but it was delicious. I do wish the calzone was sliced so I could handle the amount of contents better inside it. Overall I placed the order over the phone and in less than 20 min my food was ready. Quick, cheap, and big portions is a big plus. If you are nearby definitely give this place a try. Although if getting a meatlovers calzone like me be sure to ask them to precut your calzone and also add some extra marinara sauce. I ran out way before I...
