It's time for another fun review!
This place just opened a few days ago, so there are a couple of kinks to work out with server timing and menu items, but it wasn't a bad experience by any means. And the quality of the food was GREAT!
The family started digging in before I remembered to start taking pictures, so don't go thinking it was light on serving size from the pictures.
For appetizers, we ordered the clams and chilled shrimp to share with 4 of us. The shrimps were very fat and meaty. You'll have to peal them, but that's just part of the experience, and they were already deveined. The cocktail sauce served with it was made in-house and very good.
The clams were good, and the garlic butter sauce was amazing! Originally, it was served with just 1 slice of bread, but we simply asked for more because we just had to soak up the sauce!
I had the poke bowl, and the dressing served with it was a perfect match.
The wife had the fish tacos, and she didn't share a bite with me because it was so good. We usually share a bite or even half serving, but not this time🤪
FIL had the fish and chips. Gordon Ramsey would have been proud of this dish! The fries/chips were cooked to perfection, and the fish was too. Very nice meaty fish cuts and batter. He was kind enough to share some bites with us. What's crazy is that I really have to brag on their tartar sauce that came with it. Made in-house, and better than any tartar sauce I have tasted! It's crazy to think that my next visit here, I plan on asking for a side of the tartar sauce. It has a nice tartar sauce flavor at first, but a couple of seconds later, there is another flavor that comes along and I just couldn't put my finger on what it is, but it was fantastic!
I find it weird to rave about tartar sauce, but seriously, it's that dang good!
There were a few glitches with serving staff, but nothing to complain about. Everyone was friendly, and simple issues were fixed within a minute or 2. Examples would be not enough napkins, extra bread for the clams, extra plates for sharing, and the confusion of the side for MIL's order (who didn't share a bite and devoured her plate before I could catch a picture). These glitches are easily forgiven because they were fixed very fast, and the restaurant has only been open for a couple of days.
We'll be back soon! If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth a try! It was a lot better...
Read moreThe overall experience was exhausting. We sat down at 4:08 (next to the kitchen, coincidentally there is a DIGITAL clock). The waitress, who didn't provide her name looked flushed when she came for our drink orders. When she returned a short time later we ordered our food. For an APPETIZER we got the hush puppies and fried green tomatoes, for our entrees my mother and I ordered the fish and chips. We placed our order at 4:15, remember I see the clock. At 4:45 I asked our waitress how much longer for the APPETIZERS? She said oh it should be any second now, sure enough it came out at 4:52, with ONE ENTREE. So as any patron dining I asked how long for the second entree, we want to eat together. She, the unnamed waitress says “Oh this happens often where the appetizer and entree come out together.” I would have been fine with this unprofessional lackadaisical response if we received BOTH ENTREES, mind you we had the same thing. I said okay, well i’d like to eat with my mother while her food was hot. At 5:15 we still haven’t received the second entree. The waitress hesitantly came to the table to ask if we were ok, clearly not. The appetizers were brought out cold, and at this point the first entree was too. She said she had talked to the “Manager” and they are expecting the food to be out soon. The food comes out at 5:26. Fries were cold. I mean at the very least serve hot food considering our dining experience is ruined at this point. She, the waitress came by asking if there was anything she could get, I said the “Manager”. So the “Manager” comes at 5:33, this guy I swear looked at me 3 different times during our wait, and ask what the problem was. Didn’t provide his name, nor any empathy. I broke everything down, even explaining the clock was less than a few feet away. He comes at me saying the butter (for the hush puppies) is supposed to be cold. I pointed to the actual hush puppies but what ever. He then proceeds to ask what I wanted. The check please. I’m usually not this detailed in any review and most likely would not have written one, however, the lack of urgency, and the fact that the manager looked me in my face in multiple occasions and didn’t offer any apologies...
Read moreDisappointed and confused. We decided to try this place on a weekday for lunch and were disappointed. First off the lunch "specials" were not specials and most of them were priced as high or higher than the regular dinner menu items. I ordered the shrimp roll which was 14 on the regular menu and 14 on the "special" menu (the old price was covered by a 14 sticker). My wife ordered the shrimp po boy which was listed as 13 on both menus. The atmosphere is very nice and there was plenty of staff, service was not the problem though our server had no explanation why the lunch specials were the same or higher priced than the dinner menu prices with the exception of the hamburger. Food came out in an adequate amount of time but was REALLY small portions for the price. My wife's po boy was 4 average sized shrimp on a roll with some lettuce and tarter sauce on the side along with house chips. 4 shrimp on a roll ! My shrimp roll was tiny and I mean tiny, no more than 4 inches long. Honestly, my wife and I don't eat that much and often split a meal but this thing didn't come close to being adequate for even a small appetite. It was tasty but I can't even be sure it was all shrimp as it may have had some imitation crab in it though I can't say for sure, either way it was basically an average seafood salad but again, really small. The fries that came with it were good and of normal size. We were very disappointed with the servings and the fact that there was no real lunch menu and the "specials" were as much or more than the regular menu but I wasn't going to write a review given the place is new until after I saw the bill. We were actually charged more than EITHER menu for both items. My wife's was 15 when both menus said 13 and mine was 15 when both menus said 14. They did make it right but come on, you have been open long enough to have 61 reviews on here, you should at least have your prices correct. Also, I find it interesting that this place has only been open a few weeks and has so many reviews which are all such great reviews. Seems kind of fishy,...
