Ok food, ok service, would go back if all the nearby Tex Mex places were permanently closed. Went for lunch on a Saturday. The establishment wasn't extremely busy, but did have a lunch crowd. Walked in and was seated immediately for a party of five. The salsa was pretty good. Infact, the salsa was probably the best part of the the meal. We ordered several different chicken dishes and one steak dish. The chicken was very bland. From the chicken fajita with the charred peppers to the shredded chicken with no flavor. The refried beans tasted like they came straight from a can. My wife commented the steak fajita quesadilla was pretty good. The server was nice but definitely needed more experience. She was slow to refill water glasses and if you requested more chips or salsa, you had to make sure you asked for both. Otherwise, she'd bring you salsa, but you were almost out of chips or chips and forget about additional salsa. Wasn't the worst Mexican restaurant I've been to, but definitely did not rank in the area of a place I'd go again.

Just ok, kinda mediocre for the $70 bucks we spent. Mexican food made for gringo palates that don't really know the difference. My Pollo Maya was dry, for $17 bucks they should try to make an effort. It had some tasty seasoning on it though. The plantains were good. The wife's Burrito de Barbacoa was ok. Lacked a punch of any flavor, but cooked well and large. The sampler was pretty good. Probably the saving grace for this otherwise forgettable meal. Nice selections, and large portions of well cooked and seasoned items. Last but not least was that $6 rip off of a cheese dip. Really? $6 bucks for that small thing to the right of the chips? Waitress and attentiveness were ok. Nothing really outstanding, We came at around 5 ish on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't that busy.

Where do I even begin…in all my years of eating around the Barrow/ Gwinnett county area I have never experienced a better dining experience then El Real. From the service to the food to the atmosphere. I couldn’t have asked for a better time while eating. As I ate my fajita with all 3 meats (yes you can get all 3), I thought to myself, wow life really cannot get better than this. The beautiful light fixtures and the amazing music selection was the cherry on top. And as far as the service, my server was on top of everything. Jimmy went above and beyond to ensure I had the best experience possible. It’s almost as if he read my mind every time I wanted anything. This is definitely a place I will be going to at least once a week just so I can see jimmy again.

I order chicken noodle soup with out Pico de Gallo. Only cilantro rice and chicken. However I order a side order of avocado. I was looking forward to eating it since I been very sick with a real bad infection that detrimental to my health. I truly believe in home made soup to help when your sick. When I got the soup there was no avocado in the bag. I call the the real restaurant to speak with someone in regards to the order and I told him I was missing the avocado then the lady I spoke with said well give me a minute she started consulting with another colleague in regards to the order in the other person that I overheard through the phone state that oh that's because she didn't want to pick up the guy you were therefore there was no avocado there and so the lady said that they didn't charge me for the avocado. So I respond to her and I told her I said the point is that I ordered a side order of avocado it didn't bother them that they did not serve the client the way the client have asked for the order then the lady proceed into rushing me off the phone when I'm trying to explain to her that the customers order was important that I requested in the avocado and that that wasn't taking in consideration and the point was it was that I paid it or not the point was that I didn't have what I asked for they didn't seem to care so she brushed me off the phone didn't bother wanting to hear my explanation. My people this is not the first time I have issues with this restaurant numerous time I have to call the manager I do not like to complain but since I am the one that's paying for the service I should be rendered the service it was very rude and disrespectful for someone to have treated me like that especially in the condition that I was in very ill I didn't feel like arguing with no one they didn't seem to care for anything I was saying and they didn't care for my service so therefore I decided to make this comment thank you. Also the 3 tacos that I order barely had any meat. They charge too much for very little food. The other place I go to I order 3 Tacos When I try to close it to bite I have to take some out and instead of 3 tacos they become five tacos in a small business with better service and quality than the Real. Very disappointed with it not 1 time...

Had dinner here mid afternoon, as fewer people that time of day & well you know covid appears to be spiking again. Service was excellent, as was the food. My husband had the pork carnitas, with black beans, yellow rice. The pork was sizzling hot & plentiful. Fried outside but incredibly savory tasting & tender on the inside. Enough to take home for another meal. He's not a big eater, but was quite happy he ordered it.

I had a pineapple, tequila grilled chicken dish ( asked for substitution on the plain grilled chicken to pineapple, tequila grilled, as price for either dish was same. Very tender & tasty with spinach & cheese on top. A small lettuce salad & yellow rice. All were very fresh, tasty & the serving was plentiful. The service was fast & the pleasant young lady serving us was very sweet & terrific, respect to service. Since it was my b'day next day, we decided to top it off with a shared fried ice cream. Best we ever had anywhere & plenty for two. Omg.

Had recommended this restaurant to my sister & her husband, who'd moved down from New England recently. They went last week & raved about it.

Our total bill was $44 & change with dessert & unsweet iced tea. Not unreasonable for how good & how much you received, portion wise.

( Side bar- I can usually tell if a restaurant is good, by how the UNSWEET iced tea is; as most people in the South order sweet tea. If the unsweetened tea arrives strong & tasty, tells me they pay attention to the details & don't allow it to sit a long time & become watered down. Mine was perfect. Never...

I totally enjoyed my experience and my meal. 1st when we arrived there were a lot of people there and we were still able to be seated right away.

Once my boyfriend and I were seated we were immediately provided chips and salsa, and the server asked for our drinks and if we wanted an appetizer. Let me say the salsa was delicious, great flavor, not to water downed and had lots of flavor; and we both were given our own individual bowl of salsa.

The Arnold Palmer ( half sweet tea and half lemonade) was very good as well.

I ordered 3 ground beef tacos and a side of guacamole, my boyfriend ordered a chimichanga. While waiting for our food someone else part of the staff waking past saw that drinks, chips and salsa was low and took it upon themselves to replenish our items.

The food was also delicious... the ground beef had lots of flavor, not dry and flavorless, the cheese on my tacos were fresh; and lets just say my boyfriend was talking anymore once his Chimichanga arrived becuase he enjoyed it so much; and he is complain king if something isn't right. No complaints this night.

When our night was over, as we walked out it appeared we had beaten a rush and we could barely get out of the door.

I guess we weren't the only one's that had a good experience so the plsce was now packed, and we were not made to feel rushed, the food didn't suffer from the volume of customers, nor was it a long wait on food.

We will be back,...
