Dear Ulta Beauty Team, Management, and the Associates Working today at Bethlehem, Georgia Store 1511
I am writing to share an extremely disappointing experience I had today at your Bethlehem, Georgia location in Barrow County.
Upon entering the store, I observed five associates — all Caucasian women — actively engaging and greeting every white customer who walked through the door. Despite being in the store for approximately 45 minutes, not once was I greeted, acknowledged, or offered assistance. I could not help but feel that my presence as a Black woman contributed to the stark difference in treatment.
In an effort to confirm the store’s location, I even approached an associate directly — yet still received no genuine assistance or acknowledgment. While I am always reluctant to attribute poor service to race, the contrast between my experience and the treatment of other customers made it difficult to draw any other conclusion.
Typically, I frequent the McDonough location, where I have always received exceptional service. After completing an inspection for one of my real estate clients nearby, I decided to give this location a try — a decision I now regret. Though casually dressed in a cap and sneakers, I remained a paying customer, ultimately spending my hard-earned money at a store where I felt invisible.
In the past month alone, I have spent over hundred of dollars at Ulta across multiple visits. I have always been a loyal supporter of your brand and mission. However, today’s experience was not just disappointing it was disheartening. Representation and equitable treatment matter. I couldn't help but notice there were no associates of color working at this location, which only deepened the sense of exclusion.
Ulta has built a brand rooted in inclusivity and beauty for all. It is my hope that you will take this feedback seriously, conduct the necessary internal evaluations, and hold this location to the same standard of excellence and inclusivity that so many of us have come to expect and support.
We deserve better. I truly hope to see Ulta continue to be a place where every customer feels seen, valued, and respected — no matter their race, background, or...
Read moreThis is one of the very few reviews I ever post... I try not to shame a business or bring anyone down unless it's absolutely necessary... it's a shame I have to do this for racial profiling. Long story short... I'm a white guy with a mixed family, I never realized profiling was a thing until I was with my wife who is puerto rican / hawaiian. We ran into a disugsting event today at Ulta in Winder. My wife, 3 kids, and her 2 sisters went into Ulta (My wife usually comes alone to pick out some perfumes, today she went with her family). She was instantly greeted with a old lady that held both her hands out screaming NO CARTS ALLOWED, as they saw multiple people allowed to have their strollers pushed through. It was clear this wasn't about the cart, it was about who was coming in with the cart. The lady followed them around the store, staring them down the entire time. They eventually left, being so uncomfortable, even tho I told her she could get a few perfumes for the new year and since we didn't get any Christmas Gifts. I just want everyone to know how the people at Ulta are treating their guest. You will see I don't write any reviews, and to come here and do so really upsets me. I thought we were past this.
SHAME ON YOU ULTA. You lost my wife who shops their once a month usually buying 2-3 of her favorite perfumes. We will gladly go anywhere else. Disgusting behavior by your Company...
Read moreI have been so happy to have a Ulta finally in Barrow County where I live! I have shopped at the Athens and Buford locations not having some good experiences with customer service. Being a veteran makeup artist of 26 years, sometimes I have to pick up some smaller items or certain products for clients, that I need right away and is not far away. I enjoy being greeted and talking with the staff of employees. I know how customer service works and when it's not working, lol. I mostly pick up my orders, so I haven't had the chance in meeting every employee, knowing them by name yet. I really like Nae and she remembers me by name and one other friendly faced employee there. They are very helpful and courteous in treating you well unlike some other Ulta stores. This store location is smaller than the others I have shopped at, so sometimes or even some products are not available, which can be frustrating for some, but I think with time as a new location it may change as customer flow increases and demand grows as well. On days like that, I just do my online pick up at another location. I appreciate the organization and cleanliness of the store! Thank...
