Don't order through Doordash. If you plan to get Sonic, you need to go there in person and expect to sit at a stall and wait for at least 30 minutes. Doordash won't allow you to customize for food allergies, doesn't even have half the menu, and you're more likely to get cold food and be missing half your order.
In this COVID era, restaurants need to get online ordering and delivery services correct with their full menu. People are moving away from the restaurant model of going in, ordering, and paying there. We're going to a system with less physical contact, less interaction, and faster expected turnarounds while maintaining quality. Sonic hasn't done this.
The first issue is that you need to have your full menu available for all online ordering, and you need to be able to make the common changes requested in store. Otherwise you're going to lose sales. I would have ordered a milkshake through Doordash, but they're not on the menu. I would have ordered a couple hot dogs, but I'm allergic to tomato and can't take the ketchup off on Doordash.
Their Drive-Thru is slower than a snail, and when they are closing the stalls and only allowing Drive-Thru, their lines can get quite long. If they're wrapped around the building, go somewhere else to eat. It'll be faster to drive out to Long John Silvers in Covington and order there. You will have your food and be halfway done before that person at the end of the line when you pulled up to Sonic gets their food, if they haven't gotten fed up with the wait and left...
This of course causes the issue with cold food. It seems like the food is prepared for online and doordash orders when the order is placed. This means it is made and sits for 30-45 minutes minimum while they wait for you or the doordash driver to get through the line to the window to pick it up. Contrast with Del Taco who will wait until you get there to prepare your order since nothing in the restaurant takes more than 2 minutes to make. I watched my Dasher on the map today, he sat at Sonic for an hour after arriving before he was given half my order and told that was everything. An hour and 30 minutes after we ordered, the dasher arrived with the ice cold half of the order he was given.
Sonic is fast food. I don't expect Longhorn quality out of the food. I do expect something tasty and fast. Cold and an hour wait is not that. I could wait an hour at Longhorn and get much better food. Or I could wait 5 minutes at Del Taco, Captain Ds, McDonalds, Burger King, or Checkers and get similar quality food. I will not ever wait an hour for McDonalds, so why would I wait an hour for Sonic?

Read moreI am a firm believer that everyone, including businesses, deserve a second chance. I gave this location many a chance over the last 2 months and was disappointed nearly every time. This time was the last time. I've gone to this drive in to get breakfast and got not answer at all at the stall and the drive thru. I've gone in the middle of the day and had to wait 5 minutes before someone answered. I only waited bc of the time I had left on my lunch. Going to another restaurant would have made me late returning to work. I have gone there, had my order taken and not receive it for 10 minutes! The last 3 times I've been there, the order never made it to the screen and I could not pay in the stall. This last trip was the last straw. In the past, I may have had to wait, but at least my order was right. My daughter and I went for lunch when I checked her out early from school. She wanted cheese tots. She doesn't like the chili at Sonic so I specifically asked for CHEESE tots and made emphasis on the CHEESE. Of course, she got chili cheese tots. Not only that, my drink was wrong. I could have put that extra dime that I was charged in my gas tank! Since the screen was not working, I specifically asked her to repeat my order to me. She repeated it wrong and I corrected her. She then repeated it to me verbatim AND THE ORDER STILL CAME OUT WRONG! A waster of money for the tots bc I don't like chili cheese tots and neither does my daughter. They went straight to the trash. What's sad is I looked in the bag to check the order and the tots appeared to be cheese tots. The top was covered in cheese. All the chili was at the bottom. Smh. Read moreWhen I went last Thursday, I put in a mobile order. I thought it was a great time to have placed an order- it wasn’t busy and wasn’t that many people there.. I was wrong. Sat there 20 minutes after checking in- no one came out and our order still said “in the kitchen”. Pressed the button to speak to someone to find out that they were having system issues and couldn’t take orders.. okay you couldn’t take orders but could you see that we had checked in or that we had sat out there 20 minutes? The app let me check in and the board at my station stated I checked in. If they couldn’t see this, there could’ve been one person inside and one person outside to let people know so we don’t just sit. There was one person outside but she was talking to someone she knew, I’m not sure if she was on clock or not but I’m sure there were at least 2 people on shift so this could work. And it was weird because we saw someone being given some sort of food and they were there before we arrived so that’s why we had waited as long as we did before speaking to someone. Then sat on the line with customer service 15+ min so I could get a refund. Soo really about 40 minutes wasted because sonic let us order online here when they had a “system problem”, then let us sit there while no one told us a thing and then customer service stated I would get some offers for this inconvenience and I haven’t received anything.
