This hotel experience was AWFUL, and quite frankly, if I had the chance, I would go back in the past and find another one to stay at. I honestly wish I could get my money back. It was expensive to stay, but everything was cheap and dirty, and felt like it was bottom-dollar quality for top-dollar cost. We called ahead the day before to ask about early check-in and were told it would be based on availability, but that we would be prioritized since we’d called to ask. We only asked for 2 hours earlier, but even though we arrived at 1:10 pm with our pet, we were told no rooms were ready and that it would be 30-60 minutes at most. We were not given a room until 2:45. What is the point of offering early check in if you don’t actually give people early check in??? We were forced to wait with our pet in the breakfast area (after waiting an hour outside in 90+ degree weather), and I didn’t feel comfortable having my pet where people ate, but it wasn’t like we had any choice since we basically checked in on time. The room itself was dirty, despite the signs claiming it was cleaned with “hospital-grade cleansers.” There was trash and some kind of flower petal on the floor from a previous occupant, and our pet went behind the bed and came out literally covered in dust and fur from other animals. Disgusting. The room smelled faintly of dog as well, and there was dust and debris all over the floor, but we were so tired we just decided to deal with it because we are in the process of moving and were hoping to relax. Unfortunately, nothing about this experience made me feel like it was relaxing or worth the HUGE price tag of $120+ a night PLUS a pet fee! Then came the issue of the owner (I believe?) and a repairman complaining to one another EXTREMELY LOUDLY in the room near ours, cursing at one another and whatever they were fixing, arguing and shouting as they attempted to repair something in the bathroom. This went on for several minutes, on and off again. Then came the housekeepers later, standing out in the hall and laughing/talking loudly to one another. It wouldn’t have been so bad if the walls weren’t paper thin, but you could hear EVERYTHING in this hotel and people were frequently loud in the halls regardless of the warning against sounds and “partying.” The headboard squeaked so badly we were afraid to move; the mattress was rock hard, pillows small and uncomfortable; the tv picture didn’t fit the screen, so most shows were cut off around the edges, and there was an overall air of dinginess to the exterior and interior. There was also a roach in the bathroom, which I reported to the front desk worker. The “included breakfast” was not good, and could not be counted as a perk. We were there two days and it looked like the same gravy and potatoes and sausage and even bread stuffs (bagels, muffins, etc.) were just put out the following day, which was so gross. How old was the food we ate? We had no idea, but the only thing that seemed remotely fresh were the eggs, and even those were watered down to some degree, so it just felt like the owner likely skims the cheapest possible ingredients while charging heinous fees. The waffle mixture was so watered down, the second you put syrup on top, it literally disintegrated, even if we tried cooking them longer, and as silly as it might sound, I love having the chance to make those waffles at hotels, so this was a huge disappointment among many. Considering how much I paid for the room, I was horrified by this place. If we hadn’t needed a pet-friendly hotel, I would have left immediately, because it was that awful. The whole time we were there, we just kept asking ourselves if we should just try and go somewhere else, but I’d made the reservation in advance, and was forced to pay that ahead of the stay along with a $100 deposit. I didn’t understand why I needed to pay a deposit, considering I was already paying the stay and a pet fee. (Also, why was room service only offered every three days?!) The front desk ladies I spoke to were nice, as was the woman who handled the breakfast area, but I assure you, there is no way I would ever stay here again. Ever. The only reason I didn’t bother asking for a refund was because I’d already heard the owner shouting at the repairman, and I didn’t want to deal with that kind of potential behavior or intimidation toward me...
Read moreUpon my arrival, I was checked in respectfully, on Friday, August 20, 2021, received my key cards, then went to the car to gather my things and family. It was pretty late so I just wanted everyone to get their showers and go to bed to ensure we were ready for the funeral the following day at 10am. My son, who’s five, had to take a shower first so of course I had to assist. I noticed the floor on the right side of the toilet was nasty and hadn’t been cleaned also the tub was never cleaned. I had my child take a shower with a towel on the floor of the tub and flip flops so he did not contract anything that wasn’t disinfected. Also, I discovered there was human hair on the lower right side under the mirror the following morning. I still tried to ride it out being that I had spoken to the front desk clerk who assured me I would be able to speak with the manager in the morning about my concerns. The tipping point was the toilet. My five year old had to use the restroom and that’s when I discovered old urine was on the underside of the toilet seat. I was livid, rightfully. I took pics and went downstairs to show my disgust and fear to the attendant. I asked for a different room and was told the entire hotel was sold out and there were no rooms available to put us in. The front desk attendant stated it would be handled, in the mean time, me and my family had to get ready for the funeral which we did. We left the hotel around 9:15am and came back at 2:00pm. I immediately went to the front desk and asked to speak with the manager. I was then told he was there earlier, is aware what happened and will be back and reach out to me upon his return. With that, we went upstairs thinking all concerns had been addressed only to find nothing was done. Urine still on the toilet, hair under the mirror, floor dirty, tub nasty. I changed my clothes and went down stairs to inquire on the return timeframe of the manager. I waited in the lobby, being that I had to use the bathroom, to speak with the manager. The manager finally arrives and I respectfully tell him my concerns. The manager was immediately dismissive and stated it was my fault for staying that night. I explained to him I didn’t know it was filthy until after we had checked into the room. He stated there was nothing he could do because we checked in using a third party site to book. I was so disarmed and stated I had just lost a family member to COVID and to know the hotel we checked into hadn’t cleaned, sanitized, disinfected anything prior to our arrival put my entire family at risk. The manager, totally disregarding my point, again stated I should have checked out. I then stated I will be checking on right now. I gathered my family and my things and did just that. When I asked for a receipt he stated he could not give me a receipt because I booked with a third party. I had to pay to stay at another hotel that backed the COVID sanitation standards per government regulations. This ruined the entire trip. I wasn’t able to attend the repast and visit with family sharing the memories of my late cousin because I was plagued with finding proper lodging for my family. I believe I deserve more than I shouldn’t have checked in. Read moreI needed a suite accessible for a disabled person, preferably in Conyers, and I didn't want to take out a loan for a two-night stay. I found this hotel, and had a comfortable suite with two queen beds, a small dresser/TV stand, night stand, and closet in the bedroom. The sitting room had a TV on a table, a desk and chair, a sofa that converts to a full-sized bed, a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a coffee maker. The bathroom was large, and using a walker or wheelchair was very easy. The bathtub seat was disassembled and placed next to the toilet. (There needs to be a better place for that, since some people miss the toilet when using it.)
The breakfast selections were excellent. I've paid more for rooms and had less for breakfast. There was a crock of hot grits, and pans of sausage, scrambled eggs, and potatoes. Bagels, toast, and muffins were available. There was a Belgian waffle iron and a pancake maker. There were several juices and teas from which to choose, as well as coffee and milk.
I did not view the indoor pool, but many guests used it while I was there.
The hotel is very convenient to I-20 (two turns, about one-half mile), and a little more than a mile away from Old Town Conyers. I didn't hear any traffic noise or other outside noise in my room.
I had to check in late. It wasn't a problem at all. I requested a one hour check out extension. That wasn't a problem, either.
Sydney, the manager, went above and beyond the call of duty, as we thought something was left behind in the room. She encouraged me to move furniture just in case, and took my contact information. While looking for the item, I left the key in the ignition of my car. That keeps the headlights on, and my car died. Carol, who works in the kitchen, and Sydney helped by using Carol's jumper cables and Sydney's car to get me started so I didn't have to wait for roadside assistance.
I was comfortable and felt safe during my stay, which is of extreme importance to me.
Some people have commented about the cleanliness of the hotel. I found a couple of minor spots, but nothing that warranted a complaint. As to the condition, the beds and bathroom were in great shape (firm mattress, good shower curtain). I wasn't a fan of the headboard, which should be sanitized between guests. It is a vinyl cushion attached to the wall. The sofa was well-loved in appearance, but still comfortable. We didn't use the sofa bed. The curtains in both rooms were clean and covered the windows completely. The bed linens and towels were in excellent, almost new, condition. The floor in the suite was LVP instead of carpet. The only drawback to that is a lack of sound insulation, and I heard the guests above me talking loudly one night. The closet in the bedroom and entryway could use some updates and/or paint. The telephones were yellow from aging, but operational. The lamp fixtures were new, and there was an alarm clock/radio with cordless phone charging. The worst thing I saw was the hallway carpet leading to guest rooms from the elevator. It has definitely seen better days, and I was worried about the condition of the room when I saw it. It should be replaced.
If you're looking for a weekend at the Ritz-Carlton, this isn't your spot. If you want simple, comfortable, safe, and clean with friendly employees and good breakfast, I recommend this hotel.
Thanks again to Sydney, Carol, Kimberly, and the rest of the staff for a...
