On Christmas Eve I called Piccadilly Germantown restaurant to inquire if turkey and dressing was being served on the line. I was told yes they were serving turkey and dressing and they would be closing at 6pm. I was told I'd better call before coming to make sure they still had it before visiting. There is also a Piccadilly to Go store near the Germantown restaurant just about 8 or 10 minutes apart. I decided I would stop by Piccadilly to Go to see if they were serving turkey and dressing before going on to the Germantown store. They were not serving the turkey meal. It was 1:22pm, I called the Germantown restaurant to ask if they were still serving the meal and was told yes. I asked if I could order 3 plates and just come in to pick them up. I was told no because the procedures were to go through the line. I was told that they had plenty of turkey and dressing and there were no long lines. I drove directly to the restaurant. I arrived about 1:31pm. I walked straight in and through the line. I asked the server for the turkey and dressing. I was told there was none. I asked how could that be when I just called not ten minutes ago and was told there was plenty. The server asked if I wanted to speak with the manager, I answered yes. The manager came up to me and asked what was the problem. I explained to him what had happened. He replied that they were out of turkey and dressing. I explained that I understood that but wondered why I was toldwhat I was told. I don't know what was the cause of his next response of, "Don't holler at me! Who do you think you are? Get out of my store! Get out of here! I'm not your child!" I was flabbergasted...where did this come from? This man was so loud and angry. He was yelling so loud that everyone was staring at me. The more I tried to explain myself to him the louder he got. I was frightened. I was only asking a question. He kept yelling and trailing me out of the store...asking me to leave. I finally had to insult him before he would stop the yelling and I was able to leave. I called cooperate in Baton Rouge, LA to file a complaint. I called several times before I was able to speak with a receptionist. She took my statement and told mshe would get with the regional manager over that store and have him call me. A week has passed and I did not hear from anyone. I called back this morning and was told by the same lady that she passed my message on to the manager, she said she thought he had gotten back to me. I am unable to explain the manager's behavior and the cause for it. Did it upset him that I asked him a question? Does he have anger management problems? Does he have other underlying problems? Does cooperate naturally go along with mistreatment to customers without questioning the problem or hearing from the customer? Is this the type of manager that Cooperate rewards? I do not know what the answers are to these questions but I do now understand that although I did not grow up in "Jim Crow" for some reason I felt I was then...
Read moreThe roast beef was good, though it was tough, not tenderized as it should have been. My family member sent their's back to get bakes chicken which was not the best. It was 2:10 p.m., so I assume the food had been sitting out since lunch time or earlier. The broccoli was mush, someone added sugar to the canned greens to, 'doctor them up,' which wasn't needed. The person that was with me stated the carrot souffle was not as good as it has been in the past. It's hit or miss with Piccadilly these days. The restaurant is ABSOLUTELY filthy. The carpet on the floor is nasty/dirty, tables and booth need to be replaced, ceiling tiles and air vents are deplorable. This restaurant is not representive of the pride that Germantown brags about. Bottom line....CLEAN UP! I did see the health inspection score posted as soon as entering. It's a 94. I did not check the date, hopefully it's recent. A 94 means at least the kitchen is...
Read moreI grew up going to PICCADILLY in Memphis; first in Whitehaven, then on Mt. Moriah and then in Germantown. At least 3 times a week and often more. They were, to say the least, a staple of my life. That occurred into my marriage and my leaving Memphis to work and live in another state at age 30. I'm now 62 and return to Memphis to visit family on about a monthly basis. Much had remained very similar to what I knew living in Memphis all those years. The food remains good and certainly ample for my age. I think a younger man works be happy with the portions. My only regret with the Germantown location (the only one I would go to because of the others being in bad neighborhoods) is that they painted the interior wooden walls white. What corporate moron thought that would improve the looks. Frankly, I find it depressing now. Ok. I'm old now and crumudgenly but it's...
