We found a new favorite spot that goes beyond just filling your stomach—it taps into this deeper connection we have through food, where everything slows down for a second or two. And a connection we made with the owner to whom I promised I would write a review. So here I go:
Kyuramen in Germantown, TN, is one of those hidden gems that nails the ramen game. Walking in feels like stepping into a cozy little slice of Japan—there's an inviting vibe that makes you want to kick back and dig in. You find yourself savoring each moment spent over bowls brimming with flavor, which kind of reminds us how beautiful simplicity can be amidst life's chaos.
In a world that often feels like it’s spinning out of control, this eating experience served as a reminder that the Japanese way is about finding beauty in simplicity, about savoring moments and maintaining a sense of harmony. It’s not just what’s on the table; it’s the reverence for each ingredient, the mindfulness poured into every bowl. Eating here isn’t just a meal; it’s a moment to pause, reflect, breathe, and appreciate the intricacies of life.
We kicked things off with the spicy garlic edamame. It was a perfect companion—tinged with just the right amount of heat, making it the ideal finger food to share. And the gyoza? Crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor inside! Each bite was like a little treasure of savory goodness, inviting us to savor the moment rather than rush through it.
Next, we ordered curry ramen. Wow! This isn’t your average bowl; it's packed with flavor that hits you just right. The broth has this perfect blend of spice and warmth—a bit like curling up under a soft blanket on a rainy day. You can really feel how every ingredient works together to create something comforting yet exciting at the same time. Then came the tonkatsu ramen—the pork was so tender it literally melted in your mouth while swimming in this savory broth that's both deep and soothing.
It felt like being transported straight to Japan, where the care in their cooking reflects a deep respect for ingredients, for the moment, and for each other. It's about appreciating the intimacy of a meal shared with friends and family, soaking in the warmth from the food and connection. They remind us that life, like ramen, is about balance and harmony, with each ingredient playing its part.—and honestly? That's what makes each bite special!
We really enjoyed it.
So, if you’re anywhere near Germantown, stop by Kyuramen to taste what true noodle artistry feels like. Sit down and linger a bit. Unravel the stories woven through each bowl of ramen, and let the warmth embrace you like an old friend. It’ll fill your belly and nourish your spirit—what more can...
Read moreThis was my first time going here. I had read the reviews before hand and decided to go. Once we arrived the hostess was very nice. We were sat immediately. The place is beautiful honestly. Nowhere else is like this. We sat down . Somebody dropped off waters then nobody ever came . I waited 15-20 mins. Nobody came to take a drink order or nothing. Ok cool I read on the reviews about the buttons. I press the button he comes immediately . No introduction no telling us how it works . We order smoothies and milk tea and appetizers. We also ordered our food. Everything came out fast. Never saw our server again. I can’t use chopsticks so I needed a fork. I had to press the call Button 3 separate times 3 mins apart just to get a fork. Well then they sit a couple next to us. This same server immediately goes over and asks them if this was their first time or are they repeat customers and tell his name. I’m like wow. I literally had to press the button for him to come , but he checked on them multiple times. I thought maybe I’m just tripping. But the icing on the cake for me was when he asked them did they check their bowls to see if they won a free bowl. Even after he told them (I had already asked for our check which never came) he never once told us this. I watched him introduce himself to other tables but not us. I had to hit the button to pay and somebody else came (the table that came 20 mins after us was already gone ). I asked him our server’s name . Also had to ask him for a bag . His name was Jake. This visit would have been 5 stars. I really felt he judged me when I sat down but I am a general manager of another restaurant . I understand everybody has a bad day. You should always treat everybody the same . I have no problem tipping good for good service. I still tipped decent due to everybody else was friendly . Not the best 1st experience and seems others have had the same issue with service. But with that being said everything else was 5 stars. I will give it another chance
We had the pan fried dumplings, spring rolls, the kimchi ramen, the ying yang, the brown sugar milk tea, and a pina colada....
Read moreAtmosphere was pretty cool, I liked how private the dining spaces were and the drinks were really good, but that couldn't have saved the rest of the experience. They have buttons on the side of your table to call your server in general, order, or get the bill. We got our water and first 2 flavored drinks fast and I ordered our appetizer. Takoyaki octopus balls are my fav appetizer at Ramen restaurants so I ordered that. They weren't appetizing at all. The inside was pure mush and I couldn't eat it without not looking at it lol. My bf read my mind and said the same exact thing. When we were ready to order we pressed the call button and order button several times. I'm not a monster, I understand places get understaffed or busy, but we pressed that button about 5 times with plenty of time given in between for them to respond. I saw the servers downstairs chatting and two were literally flirting 😂 like can yall take my order? Our original server came to the table near us multiple times and never came to us. I tried flagging him down and saying "excuse me" outloud... nothing lol. Finally somebody else took our order, gave us more water, and another flavored drink. We both got the Katsuobushi Pork Ramen bowl, with a side of Kim Chi for me. It looked good in the picture and the braised pork sounded appetizing. When we got the bowls it didn't smell great. The pork was not good and I ate 4 bites of the Ramen and the half egg. I couldn't eat the rest. My bf couldn't get over the smell so we asked to take his off the bill. The side of kim chi looked and tasted like it had fermented too long or came in one of those huge store bought containers of kim chi. Our bill was still $50+ and we respectfully did not tip. Asian restaurants are always a hit or miss in Memphis I feel like. They seem to be more so about the aesthetic and vibe than the actual food lol. I'm surprised this place has 4.1 stars honestly. I'm assuming it's people who have never been to another Ramen restaurant in their life. Although everyone was nice, I will...
