I love Anthony's for the food, the view and the service. We have dined here many times and it is always excellent!! This was the first time I rated them at less than 5 stars. I felt really rushed by the service tonight. Usually, I enjoy taking my time and enjoying the evening especially when we spend over $200 for a dinner for two. Our appetizer came before our drinks! The usual hard lemonade with fruit of the season (which I always have) was terrible - the strawberry puree was very tart and lemonade very watery and the drink was way too strong - I tasted mainly water and vodka. So I ordered a different drink, after explaining I didn't care for the hard lemonade and the server didn't ask what was wrong with it, nor did she take the drink away or insist on taking it off the bill. With neither drink did she offer a straw, but my husband was given one with his beverageđ€. We were never offered bread, we asked for it after receiving our meal. My husband is a faster eater than I. He was finished with his meal and I was only half way thru mine when the server asked us if we'd like dessert. (I had just gotten my second drink moments before, I was no where close to being ready for dessert). She brought us a dessert menu from which we ordered dessert along with coffee, but requested a few minutes. Our desserts came so quickly ... I was still eating dinner and nursing my drink. We were brought the check before I even finished dinner and started dessert. I was never offered more coffee, I was never asked how my meal was, I was never offered a to go box, and the drink I didn't like was still on the table when we left. Service is normally so good at Anthony's. My husband and I run a business and get so little time off to go out to eat. We always come to Anthony's when we do, but tonight was such a disappointment. I did not leave feeling decadent and relaxed as usual, but instead felt rushed and pushed out the door. We will continue to go to Anthony's, I just hope this server is trained better, or that we get someone better next time. Hopefully our experience can be used as a training...
Read moreSo we've been to Anthony's here in Gig Harbor now, Kirkland, & Edmonds. I've always associated Anthony's with a great view and good fish. In Gig Harbor the view is still great. But that's where it stops. To quote my wife, "I feel like I'm on a cruise ship". Not from the outdated decor, but from the average food that tastes like it came off an assembly line. It was very average. My son didn't like his at all. But when we asked the server many details about my son's order he made it clear it was frowned on to send it back. So I swapped with my son. Aside from that, while our server was very knowledge about the fish & preparation, his lack of joy & personality put a cloud on our evening. The hostess, Destiny, was the only person who even smiled at us all evening. Our server and the rest of the staff made us feel like we were in their way. All I can say is this place lacks joy. Don't get me wrong, I'm not looking to be entertained, but when we're spending over $200 for 3 people we expect a pleasant time. Our server seemed irritated to have people ask him questions. Then just basic stuff like getting drinks refilled didn't happen. We were there when only 9 tables were there. Yet twice our drink glasses of water and empty. And not like we guzzled them. And both times we waited over 10 minutes before we eventually got up and found someone to refill them. Again, only 9 tables and there were at least 3 bus boys. But heck, if my wife's $20 drink got low they were by in the blink of an eye to try and get her another. Bottom line, most disappointing was the food... VERY average! But the service was minimalistic and not rude, but not enjoyable. It was clear or server wanted to do as little as possible and only cared to upsell to get a larger tip. If you want a good meal & enjoyable experience, and value what you get for your money, look elsewhere. Cause all this location has going for it...
Read moreWe were on vacation and had eaten at Anthonyâs in Bremerton twice already. We decided to check out the Gig Harbor location because it was on the water. Nice facility, great views. However, apparently they had just had a busy morning so things werenât running that smoothly. It took us forever to get our drinks, the soda was basically soda water, so they needed to change the kegs, and it took about 15 minutes for everyone to get new sodas and that was only after reminding the waiter. I ordered a berry Cosmo which I had had at the other location and was perfect. This time it was basically raspberry purĂ©e with some fruit in it. Way too thick. Didnât taste any vodka at all. The brunch menu is very limited. Prices are high. I had the fish and chips and the two pieces of fish were so small, only a little bigger than your average fish stick. They brought the wrong salad for my stepmother, the waiter had misunderstood her order, when they brought the salad that she did want, it was missing an ingredient, so they substituted grapefruit for mango. As she got into the salad, she realized the avocado was missing so we tracked down the server and he brought her âmore avocadoâ even though there was no avocado. All brunch dishes are supposed to come with homemade blueberry coffee cake and cinnamon butter. When we didnât get any after 20 minutes, I asked about it, and the waiter said oh sorry, weâre out of that. I can bring you some sourdough bread and butter. On the upside, even though chowder wasnât on the brunch menu he was able to bring me a cup. Overall, we wish we had eaten at a different restaurant. Our experience was not the same as at the...
