local to the area. Had Jason (i think that was his name) as a server, tried to order the smokehouse bowl entree with the 2 sides, was told the menu was inaccurate even though it literally lists it as an entree which can have 2 sides. Was told it was a mistake by corporate and staff were told to let customers know. I don't even know if this is true. I would expect local stores to mark the menus or have them reprinted if that were the case. I'm just frustrated I couldn't get the smokehouse bowl with 2 sides as an entree deal, felt cheated and misled. Especially since, not that long ago, I've ordered that entree while alongside multiple other customers, and still received my two sides. I list my server because I don't know if he lied. Honestly, seems incredibly unprofessional that either 1) corporate won't acknowledge the change and shirks the responsibility of communication on to their staff or 2) local manager can't be bothered with changing their menu or lastly 3) that the employee is making their own excuses to get people to buy more expensive items. It looks bad on multiple fronts, and I can take a step back and shrug because it's probably just corporate oversight, but it's annoying!
I was additionally uncomfortable under his service because when finishing up my meal with my friend, a platter of several desserts was presented to us by him and we were asked if we wanted any. I was really confused because I know we weren't actually being offered the dessert out of kindness, and would be charged if we selected an option. But the way in which it was presented felt like he was offering it to us free of charge. It felt really manipulative and soured my entire experience. I don't like being up-selled to like that, it feels like i'm being preyed upon and since i'm a local it feels even more disrespectful. It's probably fine for most, but it doesn't make me want to go back to smokehouse, or at least, be served by that person again.
This alongside the menu issue, makes me feel like there's some weird manipulative sales tactics here and while it's probably pretty normal, I felt uncomfortable! I've had better service here under others. Service where I felt respected, and my intelligence preserved as I was able to communicate my decisions as I pleased. So I don't know if this is corporate or...
Read moreRead only if you want HONESTY I'm very picky when it comes to barbecue. The beginning of my experience started with pulling into the parking lot. The smell of smoked barbecue hit me like a brick wall. We were greeted by friendly staff and seated. Not too busy. Our waitress (Mickey) was very energetic as well as very friendly. She brought our drinks out very promptly. I decided to order the corn bites for an appetizer. I've heard quite a but about them. They came with a side of ranch. Very crispy on the outside and a creamy corn inside. Veryimpressed. They also tasted very fresh. I ordered the meat platter (3 meats, 2 sides). I chose sausage, pulled pork, and brisket. For sides I chose baked beans with coleslaw. As I said I'm very picky with my barbecue. The plate came out probably 10 minutes later and let me tell you, they are generous with their meats. The first bite just about knocked me on the floor. Hands down the best barbecue I've had the pleasure of tasting. Very tender meat and not flooded with too much sauce. The sauce was sweet and almost spicy. Very tasty. So 5 stars on the meat. The baked beans are very good but sweet. The beans have a smokey sweet taste with hints of bacon. So if you love baked beans this would definitely be a must. Lastly the coleslaw was on point. Very fresh and delicious until you get toward the bottom of the bowl. I'm sure it doesn't happen very often but the bottom of the bowl was like soup. Way too much liquid. As I said though, the coleslaw was very delicious. So overall, fantastic place to eat for barbecue. It is a bit pricey but I turn a blind eye to the price when it...
Read moreAfter waiting 15 MORE minutes after the time they initially told me for my call- in takeout order, I left and then realized that the order was incorrect. I called back and immediately asked for a manager. "Julie", who did not apologize for the mishap, was more concerned of the price difference between the food that I ordered and the food that I received. The issue would've been more convenient for all parties if she found a way to resolve the issue rather than trying to get a customer to pay the right price for an order that was placed incorrectly by the young lady who took the order. Perhaps if the young lady had repeated back the order over the phone instead of assuming what was said, the issue would've been non-existent. Julie ended up making the matter worse by not resolving the issue (I was the one who decided for a full refund as opposed to making a new order). My girlfriend even had some difficulty trying to get that accomplished because the cashier acted like a full refund was troublesome. The district/general manager will be contacted in regards to Julie's nonchalant and unapologetic attitude, and I hope that she realizes that perspective is everything because if she isn't apologetic (no matter if the blame lies with her employee or herself), then she isn't at fault. And if she isn't at fault, then the fault is on the customer, which is improper...
