On 01/01/2024, I went there to get dinner with my dad and brother-in-law. I ordered a chicken taco shell where we have shell fried and ready, and then you add a choice of your items to it. The guy kept adding a little bit of everything of my choice with no issues. Still, when it comes to adding sauce - he added a little bit of medium spicy sauce, so I requested him to add a little more as he spread the sauce and then close the lid so much of the sauce would go with the lid when I open it to eat it. Anyway, I was surprised when he asked me that extra would cost me $0.75. He explains that each item has an assigned fixed quantity. My explanation- I took less rice, less beans, and less chicken, then I thought it would compensate for the little bit of more sauce, but the guy was rigid and kept pushing it back, saying you would have to pay an extra 0.75 cents for sauce. Now, that is the crucial ingredient, in my opinion.
No worries, I said I would pay. Then my dad said that he would have a just fountain drink along with me and my brother-in-law. After knowing his choice was limited, he decided not to have a drink, so I requested the same guy ( cashier) to remove one drink and only keep two drinks in the order - he said he couldn’t remove it. I asked why. He said you couldn’t change your mind and kept asking me to change the drink- then I told him to cancel the order, and we would go home - are you okay with it, or do you want us to buy the food with only two drinks? Then he realized he might lose us, so he said he would remove one drink from the order.
My suggestion to the owner- Please train your staff to provide better customer service. Two, your business is in Glastonbury, CT, not Rhode Island. Please hire locals, if possible, who know people and the community. Provide knowledge transition to the employee on maneuvering the POS system. Ask your staff to smile during the transition, and don’t treat them like they are getting EBT benefits.

I've done my fair share of traveling, and am ecstatic to be able to say that my hometown's got a truly high-quality, quick Mexican restaurant to rival SoCal Mexican joints. Sayulita on 17's always nice, but the consumer's not always looking for a $30/person full-service meal, and Glastonbury finally, truly has something special for a quick Mexican restaurant.
The first notable thing that popped out to me, before I even talked to anyone behind the counter, was the price. A 3-meat, no-holds-barred, full-9-yards burrito is $14 pre-tax. Extra meat is only a dollar surcharge.
I ordered a pretty normal burrito - rice, black beans, pulled pork, sour cream, cheese, queso (yeah, that's triple dairy, I'm here for a good time), jalapeños, corn, and pico. They have a small entreé selection, or you can choose to draw from the Chipotle DIY-bar philosophy and make your own monstrosity, as I chose to do.
The burrito was well-wrapped, and came with a fridge drink (notably, the drinks fridge contains a majority of Jarritos flavors - seriously, I think there's 8 different ones in there - I'm going back today, 19 March, will update this review.). There's your standard Coca-Cola products on fountain, and also a couple of import Coca-Cola products in the fridge. Y'know, the nice glass bottle stuff.
That burrito had something magic to it. Dense, fresh, and the closest thing we've got in town to authentic Mexican for less than a twenty. Everything meshed perfectly, and the taste reflected it. Meat was perfect, all toppings were exactly as they should be, and for a moment all is right in the world.
Seriously, this place has something special - the Moe's location that it replaces may soon be forgotten about. If this RI-based chain can remain as good to everyone as it was to me, then local fixture status is fast approaching for Baja's.
10/10. Chipotle lies awake at night thinking...
Read moreBaja's Fresh Grill in Glastonbury, CT, is an absolute gem! The food here is beyond amazing - it's fresh, flavorful, and crafted with genuine expertise. What sets them apart is their generosity – unlike other places, they don't nickel and dime you for extra ingredients, making your meal truly customizable without breaking the bank, a refreshing change from places like Chipotle or Moe's.
The restaurant itself is spotlessly clean, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall delightful dining experience. Baja's Fresh Grill has not only elevated the Mexican food scene in Glastonbury but also taken it to new heights. This establishment is a massive upgrade from the previous tenant, Moe's, and has rightfully earned its place as the top choice for burritos and Mexican cuisine in the area, surpassing even Chipotle. If you're looking for a fresh, flavorful, and friendly dining experience, look no further than Baja's Fresh Grill! It's a definite 5-star dining...
