Jaxx Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Glendale Heights

This is another one of my favorite local little hot spots. From the outside, the average person might consider it your average dive bar, but on the inside, it's much nicer than your typical dive Bar. It's small, so sure, it'll get the wrap of a dive Bar. But that's hardly the case with the cozy atmosphere and eloquent massive granite Bar, ambient lighting in the evenings, nice tile floors, and decent Bar furniture. The owners of Jaxx definitely stepped it up about 15 notches from when it used to be Dino's sports bar & Grill. They have a full service Bar with just about anything you can want, and a pretty decent size menu which they kept the same from Dino's. I would like to see a more extensive menu with their own culinary artistry as opposed to continuing to offer the same menu Dino offered for years prior to them taking over ownership. The burgers are AMAZING though. I highly recommend the Nolan Ryan medium rare with extra BBQ sauce. Fresh cut fries are a local fave too, and don't forget to try the bacon wrapped jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese. They have live bands every Friday and Saturday night, sometimes Thursdays I believe, trivia nights, and big screens to watch your favorite sporting events. They also have a nice outdoor patio area that wraps around the front and side of the bar. You can play a life size version of Jenga in the outdoor back corner of the patio. It's a cool casual place to hang with your girlfriend, boy friend, or just want to go out drinking with your buddies. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. Ordered fried ravioli. Was very good. Personally I could have used a little more marinara but that's just me. Ordered the Swiss Alps burger with coleslaw. Large patty, was cooked as I asked. Nice amount of grilled onions and mushrooms. Being able to unhinge my jaw would have been nice. It's a tall burger with the lettuce, tomato and raw onion. Would I get that burger again? Absolutely. Might avoid the appetizer unless I'm here with friends. My Arnold Palmer was weak. I understand that it shouldn't be able to remove paint but a bit stronger would have made it perfect. Again, not a deal breaker and will try again. Server was fantastic. Sarah. Went here in a Saturday night, was only 5 guys in the bar, that should’ve been an indication I should’ve left. Sat down at 7 pm at the bar sat there until 730 while the bartender was busy talking and socializing with the guys at the other end of the bar. Finally got to order a drink and was trying to order food when I was told the kitchen was closed. What bar kitchen is closed at 7 PM on a Saturday night? But decided to get the drink anyways what a huge letdown ordered a simple rum and Coke. The Coke was flat. Tasted like water. Sat there for another 45 minutes while the bartender was getting busy with the people down at the other. Finally got her attention paid my seven dollar tab, and then left and went to another bar for the remainder of the evening. This is certainly one of the worst bars in Glendale Heights will not...
