I want to start by saying that I know the owner of this shop, and he is a wonderful person. The gentleman who works here is also very polite and respectful. Unfortunately, the female staff members keep changing, and every time I visit, the customer service from some of them is disappointing. I really think that before anyone is hired, they should be trained on how to properly interact with customers.

Tonight, I came with a family member. I wanted to try something new and asked the young lady at the counter what a certain item was, since the menu wasn’t clear whether it was an ice cream, a shake, or something else. Instead of giving me a proper explanation, she answered with an attitude and even said something like, “Don’t worry, it’s not alcoholic.” I told her I already knew that—it was the way she spoke that was rude and dismissive.

We got our order, but the item I tried wasn’t good at all. When I went to pay, another girl asked me if I liked it, and I honestly said no. I asked if I could speak with the owner, and she and the other girl told me he wasn’t there. That was fine—I paid and went to sit down. But then, one of them came back and spoke to me in a very disrespectful tone, with her hands on her hips, saying: “This is America. If you don’t like it, you can ask for your money back or order something else. But if you have a problem, this is not the place for you.”

That statement was completely unacceptable—as if she was trying to throw me out of the shop. No employee should ever speak to a customer that way. Even if the owner himself said such a thing, it would still be wrong, but at least it would be his business. For an employee to tell a customer “this is not the place for you” is extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. It’s not her place to decide where I belong.

To be clear: I didn’t want my money back. I simply didn’t enjoy the item and wouldn’t order it again. But the way she treated me, especially considering I was with my 67-year-old relative, was completely inappropriate. It felt like talking to someone on the street, not a customer in a business.

Eventually, the gentleman working there noticed and asked what was wrong. I explained, and he listened respectfully. But I really hope the owner reviews the cameras—and if they record audio, even better—because then he would hear for himself the way this staff member spoke. If I was the one being rude, I’d accept responsibility, but I wasn’t. The problem was the staff’s behavior.

This isn’t the first time I’ve visited this shop, but it’s the first time I’ve seen this particular young woman working there. Her attitude and language were completely inappropriate. I strongly suggest the owner have a serious talk with her and give proper training on how to communicate with customers...
