Kopp's Frozen Custard — Restaurant in Glendale

Lousy experience at a place I have been to many times over 40 years. When things go well its a great place to get fresh hot food. When things go bad it goes really bad. Phoned in a food order because with recent knee surgery I cant stand or walk far or very long. Went to pick up my food and decided to add a quart of custard, a woman called me to place an order but then got nasty and refused. She seemed all excited to tell me she refused to allow me to order custard even after I explained I had a food order as well.. the 4 cash register people had nobody in line or placing any orders. My knee pain did not allow me to walk and start over so I gave up on what I wanted. This woman being so excited to refuse to help me when no other customers were there told me a lot about her desire to refuse to help someone. She would rather do nothing. I mentioned to the pick up person that I wanted to buy custard but the register girl refused to see me any. I assumed that might get me some help but nope it did not. I called kopps to let them know after 40 years of being a customer that this was lousy service. The guy on the phone said that scott the manager wanted it run the way it was.. sadly I had an issue with scott when My food was incorrect and I had it with bad service. Scott's lousy attitude refused to cancel my order when I returned my order in the bag with the change from my 20 dollar bill. So scott stole 20 dollars from me and I remember his nasty attitude from years gone by. So kopps has let scott the manager steal from a customer and refuses to allow someone with fresh surgery to use an empty cash register. Great going kopps.. i hope karma catches up with scott and kopps in a mayor way some day. On Friday, September 6, 2024, I visited the friendly well, which I thought was a friendly Kopps location. The manager, Mr. Scott, treated me less than kindly. I came in via the back door because that’s where the parking was. I had my 6 pound dog with me. I placed an order. The person who took my order was very kind. While I was waiting for my order, the manager, Mr. Scott is his first name. Told me I needed to leave with my dog.( I guess dogs are no longer allow) I was OK with it even though there was no sign posted. As I was leaving, I had to inform the person I was with to grab my ticket and wait for my number to be called while I was walking out, Mr. Scott informed me again I needed to leave with my dog. I said OK no problem. I am just letting the young lady know where I am going because I would need to wait outside. She is a minor so I didn’t want to leave her in the store alone. As I was heading down the hall to leave, the manager yelled via the intercom Ma’am!!! You need to leave! I was so embarrassed I cannot believe the treatment. Really the same PA system used to call out orders! I can’t help but to think and question. Is this the way they do business now they yell at folks over the intercom? Oh and yes he also threaten to call the police on me! Or is it because you know I look a certain kind of way? I don’t know, but this was the worst service I have ever received. I hope that Mr. Scott will see this review and and someday learn that his actions in front of young people was appalling since he was a senior leader employee. His example speaks to anger, mismanaged emotions, and lack of self-control. By the way, the dog was in my arms the whole time. Also, he never even cared to bring me my order while I...

Their custard is amazing and their burgers are very good and very reasonably priced!! They have two special flavors of custard each day, at least one is usually very good, alongside vanilla and chocolate, plus leftover of the prior days flavors of the day sold at a discount while supplies last -- but they don't last long so get their early if you want some cheap pints! Add in all their great shake and sundae toppings and mix ins (cherry is a personal favorite) and dessert is always a treat!

Their burgers are VERY hearty! You can get most toppings for free to make it however you'd like. They only charge a dime for extra pickles, but dang, do you get your ten cents worth of extra pickles!! It's great!!! A double hamburger and single scoop of custard is my go-to, super filling and under ten bucks. My wife goes with a cheeseburger and double scoop for about the same price. I should add that it's super clean and the staff are very friendly, as well.

The one downside is that it's not signed super well for first time visitors. If you're just ordering custard or shakes, you need to wait in the two lines on the far left. If you want items from the grill, you wait in the two lines in the middle. Sometimes they'll take your order if you're in the wrong line but often they'll make you wait in the other line for your turn. It also can be a bit of a pain to hear the numbers they call out for meals as they're ready but they've also got outdoor areas to lounge while you enjoy your food -- overall absolutely...
