A Taste of Home: Max’s Restaurant Shines in Glendale!
I'm thrilled to share my exceptional dining experience at Max of Manila in Glendale, where the authentic flavors of the Philippines shone brightly! This hidden gem is a must-visit for foodies and anyone craving a taste of homegrown Filipino cuisine.
From the moment we walked in, the attentive and courteous waiters made us feel welcome. Despite being packed on a Saturday lunchtime, the waiting time was reasonable, and the staff ensured our needs were met throughout our meal.
Now, onto the pièce de résistance – the food! Max of Manila's menu boasts an array of mouth-watering dishes that will transport your taste buds to the streets of Manila. We indulged in some of their signature dishes, and each one exceeded our expectations.
The crispy fried chicken, a crowd favorite, was cooked to perfection – juicy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The taro leaves, or "laing," were expertly prepared, showcasing the rich, earthy flavors of this authentic Filipino dish. The nilagang baka (beef soup) was a comforting, slow-cooked masterpiece that warmed our hearts and bellies. And the pork sisig? Absolutely divine!
What truly elevated our dining experience was the personal touch from Master Chef Tobal, who graciously visited our table to ensure everything met our expectations. His passion for Filipino cuisine and dedication to excellence shone through in every dish.
In short, Max of Manila is a culinary gem that will leave you craving for more. If you're a fan of Filipino food or just looking to try something new, do yourself a favor and visit Max of Manila. Your taste buds will thank you!
Pro tip: Be prepared for a lively atmosphere, especially on weekends. But trust us, the food and service are well...
Read moreThis was my first time at Max's, a Filipino based chicken restaurant. My filipina girlfriend told me about this place, personally I love Jollibee! The thought was can Max's be as good.
As we entered the restaurant we were warmly greeted and escorted to our table. Moments later "Jerry" our server greeted us with a smile and gave us the menu, Jerry gets an A+ for friendliness! We placed our order of Pancit Canton, Laing (taro leaves simmered in coconut milk), Coconut palm egg rolls, friend chicken, calamansi and mango juice, and a favorite sisig.
The food was delivered HOT and ready to eat. The Pancit Canton, Very good!
The chicken very moist with great taste! Their chicken is placed in a brine of garlic, onion and other ingredients. Then steamed, then deep fried. The Laing is something new for me. It was rich in taste and masarap!!!!
The Sisig had a nice spice to it and was wonderful, one of the best I've had.
The egg rolls were great and made with coconut palm, dip it in their vinegar and you're set! The drinks were bold with taste and refreshing.
Overall, I give this restaurant an A+ for their out going friendliness, the ambiance, the time it took from ordering to placing, and the taste of the food...We loved it.
Jollibee is great as well, but these are two different types of restaurants. Each are great. Max's Restaurants offers more traditional family style sit down. Jollibee is in a league of their own offering great chicken to go....
Read moreThey have contactless check-in on the pad inside - although MAKE SURE that you complete the check-in and you receive the confirmation text. When we were there I saw 2 parties fail to push the final button (I pushed it for them so they wouldn't be yelling an hour later asking why they haven't been seated yet). The tables are spaced okay - it isn't "6 feet" (if that's your metric), but it isn't 100% capacity either. There's a smaller menu compared to pre-COVID times. The staff is good, but they appear to be understaffed (like most places) - if you don't get a table closer to the kitchen, your server may not frequent your area as much as you may need. We waited a few minutes more than I'd like at most of the key parts of the meal (ordering, drink refills, to-go boxes, the check). We had lunch during the weekday, so I was hoping not to take longer than an hour. Hopefully that improves as adjustments are made to new regulations. Otherwise it's the same good food we've had at Max's. Their chicken is what they're famous for. The sinigang was great - the vegetables were not soggy or overcooked, and there was a good amount of meat. The lumpiang shanghai were crisp. We had to take the halo halo dessert to go because we ran out of time - but it's my wife's favorite. She's from the Philippines and she said that the Glendale Max's had the one most like home compared to all the other Filipino restaurants...
