Do NOT waste your time coming here. This restaurant has no respect for its customers and their time.
We made a reservation for 7:15pm for Valentine's Day dinner. We did not get seated until 8:15pm. We were given two options: stand inside the restaurant next to the door and stare at the guests while they eat, or sit outside on the bench and stare at the guests going into California Pizza Kitchen, which seems to have much friendlier staff and better service.
There was NO empathy or apology coming from the restaurant staff for making their guests wait for an absurd amount of time. When the parties ahead of us, several couples who booked reservations for 7pm, let her know that they have been waiting for 30+ minutes and they made a reservation already, her response was "everyone made reservations". This restaurant must have the WRONG definition of what a reservation is. What is the point of a reservation when you have to wait 1 hour+ to get seated!?
Unfortunately, we could not have canceled the reservation despite waiting 1 hour + because that would've meant losing the deposit we already paid to make that reservation.
It is ESPECIALLY ironic that this is a Japanese omakase restaurant - one that embodies the complete OPPOSITE of Japanese culture. There is no punctuality nor respect for its customers. If this were to happen in Japan, the restaurant would be out of business.
For those reading the reviews to see if this restaurant is worth visiting - don't. There are plenty of other nice Japanese omakase restaurants that have much better food...

If you want to sit at the bar, ordering Omakase is required. I went for the Omakase.
Some notable things were the chopsticks are packaged like your typical take out chopsticks. The plates are almost all Melamine ware. And the wasabi here is very fine and wet, almost like powder wasabi that's been reconstituted with too much water. The taste has real wasabi flavors, so I'm not sure what they do here. This kinda detracts from the fine dining experience and makes it seem more of a casual place, unfortunately.
The thing I liked the most was the ikura, scallop, salmon, engawa, ankimo, tamago, as well as the baked mussel, scallops and Kumamoto oyster. My meal was ~$120 without beverages or tip.
The chef was very friendly and nice, being informative as well. The food came out extremely fast, being I was the only one there. Overall, my dining experience was pleasant, but it did feel a bit rushed for some reason. The meal wasn't as memorable as I'd have...
Read moreTo: Sasabun Sushi Management Team,
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the quality of sushi that I received from your restaurant. I called to inform your staff that the sushi was saggy, falling apart, warm in temperature, and seemed like it was old sushi. The lady who took my call simply said "ok thank you" without offering any sincere apology or at least a discount for the poor quality of food.
I was shocked that your staff did not seem to care about my experience as a customer. I even offered to send photos of the sushi to illustrate my point, but was refused. This lack of concern for customer satisfaction is unacceptable and has left me feeling very dissatisfied with my experience at Sasabun Sushi.
As a frequent customer of your restaurant, I expect better service and higher quality food. I hope that you take this complaint seriously and take steps to ensure that this kind of experience does not happen again in the future. I look forward to hearing from you soon regarding...
