I recently visited The Lola and unfortunately it left a lot to be desired. From the moment we sat down, the service felt cold and disengaged. Our waitress seemed visibly annoyed when some people at our table were still deciding on their orders. Instead of offering to come back, she just shot us looks and barely answered any questions we asked. One person wanted to change the eggs in their dish, and when the waitress said it couldn't be modified, she offered the option of removing the eggs and ordering them on the side. But isn’t that still modifying the dish? Her lack of helpfulness left a bad taste before we even received our food.
When our meals finally arrived, they weren’t much better. I ordered the tres leches French toast, which, to my disappointment, lacked any tres leches flavor. It was dry, flavorless, and not at all what I expected from the name. I also ordered a side of potatoes and bacon (never got the bacon). When I pointed this out, they took it off my bill. The potatoes that did make it to the table were bland, with only a salty surprise in the middle of the cup. A few others at the table noted that their dishes were similarly uninspiring, although the chicken in the chicken and waffles did stand out as a positive.
The decor, though cute, was not quite what I’d expect for a restaurant of this caliber, and the music, though good, was so loud that it made conversation nearly impossible. It was as if the ambiance was trying to cover up the lackluster food and service.
To top things off, our waitress did the bare minimum when it came to checking in on us. She breezed by once to ask how the food was, but didn’t stop to engage. We had to ask multiple staff members for boxes and for the check. When the bill finally came, it was split for our group of six, but no one explained that the 20% gratuity was already included in the form of a "restaurant fee." (Btw, they came around with a small machine that barely showed any breakdown of the bill and the writing was super tiny). Some people left extra tips not realizing this, which felt like an oversight that could’ve been easily avoided with a quick explanation, which I did explain to the others so they could decide if they wanted to leave more tip, if they wanted.
Overall, the food didn’t impress, the service was frustratingly unhelpful, and the atmosphere was a bit off. I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you’re in the area—there are definitely better options that value both customer service and...
Read moreThe Love Island event was an unorganized mess. We paid $50 each to be seated at a VIP table and we arrived at 1PM when doors opened. After waiting in line for about 10 minutes in the heat, it was finally our time to be seated. We were greeted by only one hostess and while she was looking for my name on the event list, not sure if this was her manager or the owner and I am unsure of her name but the brunette woman who seemed to be running this event began berating this poor girl yelling “HOSTESSES” “HOSTESSES” over and over again to get her attention. The hostess was not aware that she was calling to her, considering this woman didn’t even have any respect to address this hostess by her name and continued to yell at her “HOSTESSES” plural as if she was calling attention to multiple people. Once she did get her attention, she proceeded to scold the hostess right in front of everyone telling her not to see any more people because they’re already overcrowded. Mind you, we arrived when doors opened. After waiting in the heat for another 20 minutes, the hostess just came outside and told us that they would now be seating people outside because they do not have room inside. Inside of the restaurant itself, they did not have AC turned on yesterday during the event, only a few large fans here and there. They also advertised a free water bottle, Fan and a surprise gift. The day of the event, they had cheap plastic water bottles, a paper fan, and a lei that they told us we could only take one of the three items. When we went inside to get drinks at the bar, both of the bartenders completely ignored us, even when they finished tending to other people they made eye contact with us yet still did not initiate any conversation or allow us to order our drinks until we addressed one directly and called her over. Meet and greet was supposed to start at 2 and go till 2:30. It didn’t start till 3:30 and went until 5. Belle-A was also supposed to host a game before the premiere of the finale which ended up never happening because there was no time. During the watch party, the had one large projector screen and a few tvs around the restaurant but they were glitchy and not working properly. I was a completely appalled at the way this event was handled. I am also appalled with the way the brunette woman handled her staff, especially in front of paying customers. I would never spend my money in a...
