I’m always hunting down a great Mediterranean spot when I head down the hill from the high desert. My girlfriend recommended this small joint tucked away in a plaza off Baseline and Grand Ave in Glendora.
The owners are very kind and receptive. They asked if it was our first time there. I said it was mine, but my girlfriend had been there several times in the past. I ordered the Half and Half Beef and Chicken Shawarma plate with rice and a side of hummus and fries along with a pita.
They did not hold back on the portions I’ll tell you what. They loaded our plates like we were feeding a family of 6, but It was just the two of us and I took my first bite of the beef with sauce and sumac seasoning was the most savory example of beef shawarma I’ve had since I visited Greece and Turkey in 2007.
The chicken was just as juicy and savory with on my half and half plate. My girlfriend ordered Chicken shawarma salad with a special pomegranate dressing. It was another huge potion and just as delicious.
I will definitely be visiting this place far more often to get my Mediterranean fix...
Read moreWe tried Damasquino for the first time and ordered a beef shawarma sandwich, a chicken shawarma sandwich, the hummus with meat, and the fried chicken with waffle fries. The food overall was really good — both shawarma sandwiches were delicious, and the hummus with meat was flavorful. The fried chicken and fries also hit the spot.
However, the service left a lot to be desired. Even though we chose to dine in and sat at the tables, they still served everything in to-go boxes, which was disappointing. We specifically came here because the photos on Google showed the food beautifully presented on wooden trays, but it seems that was just for promotional pictures.
Another thing: the hummus with meat was almost $19, which felt a little overpriced. The portion was big enough to feed up to 4 people, but they only gave us two small slices of bread — and for almost a $100 order, that felt pretty stingy.
Food was great, but the overall experience could definitely...

Damasquino in Glendora is an absolute gem! This was my first visit, and I can confidently say it won't be my last. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The man at the register, especially, took the time to understand my unfamiliarity with Mediterranean cuisine and patiently explained different options. He even went above and beyond, hooking me up with more food than I ordered! (Let me tell you, the portions are incredibly generous.) The food itself was absolutely delicious. Fresh, flavorful, and authentic - a true taste of the Mediterranean. I ended up sharing some with a friend and still had leftovers! It was the perfect amount of food to enjoy a delightful meal and have some for later. Overall, Damasquino gets a resounding 5 stars from me. The friendly service, generous portions, and incredible food make it a must-try for anyone in Glendora. You won't be...
