Visited for lunch with the family in hopes for a Covid guideline following family friendly outing. As a friendly gesture to let the restaurant know that we had tried calling ahead between yesterday and today prior to arrival that their phone line might have issues, the hostess abruptly cut me off letting me know there was nothing wrong because she was just on the line and receiving take out orders...Ok I let that slide.
She guided us to the hibachi side preparing to seat us (party of 6) with another couple with whom we were not associated. I immediately asked if we were to be seated with strangers since the pandemic is clearly not over. Her response was you have 2 seats to separate you or you can pay an $18 per person per chair to have your own table. I confronted her with the fact that being seated with strangers prior to Covid was not an issue, but to go about “businesses as usual” during these uncertain times is not what you should force customers into. Her only response was that she was not “forcing” us, (even though her other option was for us to fork over about an extra $120 just to be separated) or we could just sit in the non hibachi area (main reason we visited). We visited here regularly years ago, I am not quite sure what has caused the staff/hostess attitude to decline so significantly!
I should also mention that it was not busy at this time whatsoever. The couple before us was the only people on the hibachi side and all other hibachi tables were empty!
As owners of the restaurant, I hope you have a chat with your hostess. No customers take kindly to rudeness as soon as they walk in. If you’re unwilling to separate tables for Covid guidelines (mind you we were not just a couple asking for an entire table to ourselves, there were 6 of us), please kindly note that to customers who are still concerned for our own health but are trying to return to a new norm by supporting...
Read moreHORRIBLE!! I used to come here 2-3 times a week for almost a year. The staff knew me by name when I walked in. I tipped amazing just because they made me feel extra accommodated and the food was SO good! Prior to coming here that frequently, I have been coming to Sakura in Sicklerville and Mays landing for over 10 years with my family. I don’t know what happen to this place! The sicklerville location drastically changed! I don’t know if there’s new owners but it’s horrible. All new staff that isn’t friendly. If you complain they act like they don’t understand you. The food isn’t the same. NOT good, to the point where my fiancé doesn’t want to eat there anymore. The prices went up so much it’s obnoxious. I’m aware of inflation but still OBNOXIOUSLY went up compared to what it was. I loved Sakura so much I still crave it and I went today and was so unimpressed that I honestly shouldn’t have been surprised and should of went with my gut by not getting it. Also they charge you a $1.00 for a brown bag to go. Again, I’m aware of NJ law with bags now but never had to purchase a bag at a restaurant. On the receipt it shows NJ environment etc…. Today I got sushi and I just so happen to take a picture when I thought of writing a review. Barely any avocado. That’s not how it should look. Their proportions with everything they serve are so small. If their going to higher the prices they should at least leave the servings as they were if not more. They lost my business. Just so disappointed as I loved it here and don’t know of any other good hibachi...
Read moreI came here for the third time today! I honestly hate leaving one star reviews, but this one had to be done .
I’ve experienced the three different types of dining experience offered at Sakura. I’ve dined with my family for hibachi I sat at the bar for lunch Today I had to sit in the dining area at a table because I was told the bar area was closed & needed to be cleaned off. The bar area was never cleaned off for the duration of my visit.
I enjoy the sushi & it's close to my job, so I came here for the third time. However, the staff is extremely LAZY . The waitress never introduced herself to me and as you can see on the receipt, there’s no name. The restaurant itself is not very busy, at least not for the three visits that I’ve attended. I have to admit the sushi is phenomenal. The Sushi & Hibachi Chefs are probably the hardest working employees . However, the sushi takes way too long to prepare. I only ordered six pieces of raw fish, which took over 45 minutes. I don’t blame the Sushi chef. That is definitely on the wait staff. I was literally the only person in the dining area; the bar was closed, and nobody was at the hibachi.
Of all my visits, my first visit to Hibachi was the best.
PS to the staff: Please get off your phones or at least go in the back where no one can see you, especially when people are waiting for service.
I have attached photos of the phenomenal sushi and...
