Tasted the difference, its not that different. Went here right after opening. Things were good and and I was pleased with the remodel, for this is the third iteration of a restaurant here. All good on visit one.
Back a second time in Sep. Noticed the food quality not quite like the first, but still ok.
Back tonight( Oct). Food quality same as any other mediocre Mexican restaurant. Specifics: Chips now now same as any other. Can't pinpoint what changed but was better before. Salsa has texture/taste of tomato sauce. Used bottled heat to doctor, but still wasn't good. Ordered Chicken Fajitas (Mon night special). Consists of grilled chicken, grilled onions, grilled bell peppers. OK, but that's it. Would be easy to be better (different) by adding a little color. And where's the lime? Flour tortillas were gummy. Inedible.
To manager or owner - where'd you go? One would think there would be some presence for a relatively new opening considering the investment made here. Seems no one of authority is here paying attention to details, which is sad since there's a large staff working with nothing to do.
Some good points: Staff attentive and friendly. Beer cold. Charro Beans are a good side. Maybe only thing following Grandma's recipe?
I do want to see the parking lot full here. I'm really hoping my review won't...
Read moreFun atmosphere. Margaritas came out quickly from the bar. That’s the only positive aspects of my visit.
Salsa was soupy and had no flavor. Generous helping of salt and pepper only moderately improved the taste. Salsa tasted more like a soupy canned marinara sauce than Mexican salsa. Chips were ok.
I ordered chicken enchiladas, which is a common dish that many Mexican restaurants have mastered to a repeatable science. Not Mi Tio. The tortilla tasted old, it lacked enough sauce on top of the enchiladas, and the chicken didn’t have good flavor. Very plain chicken.
I would’ve excused some of these shortcomings if the service was at least average. It wasn’t. My drink wasn’t refilled one time and the server never came by after food was delivered to ask how everything tasted. My party sat around for 15 minutes waiting for the check after everyone finished eating. Had to flag another waitress to bring the check.
Many Mexican restaurants in the area provide both exceptional food and service. Mi Tio Mexican Grill can’t even get chips and salsa right. There’s nothing special about this restaurant and I’d be surprised if it stayed open more than 2 years. Hopefully the next restaurant that takes over space rented by Mi Tio will be a valuable addition to the food scene...
Read moreWe went there with a group pf 6 (2 couples with a kid each)last night ( Tuesday evening) for the first time, they redid some of the interior from the old Quaker, but not everything.
We got serviced by an attendant who did not speak English, so ordering food with modifications was a challenge, and splitting the check between our 2 groups was a challenge.
We did order and waited a while for the food to arrive, got 5 out of 6 dishes right, the 6th person did not get his food. and decided not to re-order after seeing the rest of the food come out. The meat in the main dish was very tasty, but lukewarm at best. The rice and beans and appetizers were all ice cold, my son decided to eat his cold food but i sent mine back without a replacement as i didn't feel like waiting another 30 minutes for food.
we asked to see the manager who did take the cold /wrong dishes off our menu. we were seen by another waitress who wanted to argue that our 6th person did in fact get food, just not what he had ordered. which in our mind is the same thing.
everything there was kind of pricey compared to other Mexican places in the same area, which would have been okay, if the quality/service...
